No I get the David thing although I don't want it. The earlier quote you used was about people automatically assuming we suck in every sport because we're terrible in football. That's not true, but some people that without looking at the facts.

People who pay attention to college sports know Vandy is not terrible (other than football). But they are not elite either
But people don't care about decent or not terrible... they recognize elite programs and (often) are happy to see programs that have not been elite achieve some success
