What same shite, grandpa?

How did that work out for you guys ?

It took us a whole 10 years after Bear retired to win a national title again.

Different administration in place now. Bama AD is being run by professionals, not career Bama people. Also, there was no obvious go to coach when Bryant retired like there would be when Saban retires.

the people who think Dabo wouldn't crawl through broken glass from Clemson to Tuscaloosa to coach at Bama are delusional.

why is that delusional? The only thing bama can offer is being at his alma mater, which admittedly does have a draw to it.

But he's got things rolling at clemson, he is a king over there. They'll give him and pay him whatever he wants. He's settled in there (what's he been there like 5 or 6 years now?) and has far weaker year in/year out competition in the ACC than he would in the SEC. Not to mention not dealing with the whole "following saban" thing and the sky high expectations bama fans would place on him.

The mindset seems to be "he can come to bama and compete for titles every year" but I mean he's already doing that, so besides going to his alma mater why would he really be inclined to leave? He could leave clemson one day as their 2nd greatest coach of all time, if not the best, no chance in hell he'd do that at bama.

Again, this is the delusional nonsense that people tell themselves when they want to believe a particular thing. That's not real life. No matter what he does at Clemson, Bama will still be his dream job. You and I know he might not have the same success at Bama, but he's a coach. He thinks he can go there, make more money, coach at his alma mater in his home state, and carry on his legacy at one of the premier programs in college football history. If Bama wanted to hire Dabo after the playoffs, you know as well as I do, it would happen.

Kirby probably would not come, but you never know about ego, Can I coach and win at the premier destination. Dabo will come or will not come for the same reason? It just depends what is I,portent to them.Hypothetical question, what if, and it is a big if Saban retires in 2 years and Bama says we want Kirby, and they offer him 15 million a year to come back. What would he or UGA do?

dude I don't have any skin in the game, dabo going or not going to bama doesn't really affect me at all so what do I have to be delusional about?

If he was at Boston College or NC State or something it'd be different, but there's not a single thing he can do at bama he can't at clemson, and he's already making quite a legacy for himself there.

Hell look at Richt, he was born in Nebraska, played at Miami, and coached at FSU. Every one of those programs had vacancies during his tenure at UGA but he never gave them a second thought because of what he had done and built in AThens and was perfectly happy there.

do you understand how stupid this sounds? Do you really think bama will pay more for saban's successor than they currently pay saban?

Curious what makes the Alabama fan base delusional, as a Georgia fan you should be well equipped to answer.

I don't think they will pay 15 million but if they identify someone, and in this case we are talking Kirby, and they feel he is the guy, that keeps the run going with no interruptions they would pay whatever it takes and yes more than Saban makes if that is what it takes. They have learned from the investment into Saban that it more than pays.

I think he really likes living in the Clemson area too. I think the lake and Blue Ridge mountains help recruit players from out of state.

Alabama has a decent campus but the location has to be a relatively tougher sell for out of state kids.

OK.

I'll say it again - He'd crawl through broken glass.

Sounds like speculation to me. :)

He's been at CLemson for 15 years which is a long time in the college football world. He's never been a job shopper type.

I get Alabama fans have a lot of anxiety about the program falling off when Saban retires if they don't land a big name coach like Dabo.

I think the only reason Dabo would leave Clemson is if his relationships with the college president, AD and others are not good or Clemson has several bad/mediocre seasons. But if Clemson has bad seasons under Dabo, Bama wouldn't offer him the job anyway.

If he's winning at Clemson, it doesn't make sense to go somewhere else where the dynamics will be different and there are a lot of unknowns.

I can't ever see most Bama fans embracing Dabo especially if he denies them a natty a 2nd time next week. lol

Dabo has damaged the way that Bama fans view their program. It is an interesting case study in psychology.

Consider how many Bama fans were on here after CLemson beat Bama last year talking trash about how Clemson would not be back in the playoffs this year and Alabama would.

But then Clemson finishes the season ranked no. 1 and Saban is on ESPN groveling for the last spot. lol

If you a proud Bama fan, that has to be a blow to the psyche. Even if Bama wins the game, Clemson fans can say Clemson earned its way into the game.

Because I don't like him and I don't want him to be in charge of our program.
