Is there a link to McClover saying/admitting this? Or is it internet rumor?

Sorry, brah, I don't think the Stanley stuff is the "explosive claim" Finebaum was talking about. IF that is included in the HBO special, I can only imagine it is in addition to whatever else they are looking at exposing.

If I heard correctly, this is an HBO special on SEC recruiting, not Auburn alone. We honestly all better be worried because I doubt it's going to shine a positive light on any of us.

Ding Ding, although I am sure there will be some Auburn stuff, they have been spotted interviewing around several teams in the SEC

I guess that info would be relevent if the OC was either:
a) the current head coach of your team, or
b) the current head coach of a team being investigated by the NCAA
come on, dude. widen your gaze from the trees and you'll see a beautiful forest
(and that is NOT a Toomers reference - I am on record saying that was despicable and no legit Bama fan should condone the actions of that lunatic)

I am just saying if people (ATPB) want to create a seven degrees of Kevin Bacon, then why can't I. Seems like that OC has got a team or 2 out from the grave. Hasnt he?

There is no link. It is internet rumor. First I heard of it was in this thread.
Having spent several years in the TV business, I can honestly say I would be surprised if anything McClover related is the bombshell HBO is dropping. I think it is briliant strategy by AU fans though to have the McClover thing be the talking points between now and the airing of the special. It takes focus off of any potentially relevent issues (McClover thing is beyond NCAA statute of limitations and, therefore, would be nothing worse than a PR bump) while buying time to difuse whatever the real HBO info is.

Where does it take the focus away? Internet message boards? Seriously, if HBO has some "bombshell" in regards to Auburn, it doesn't matter what fans talk about, it's still going to be ugly.

They spoke to Prothro in Tuscaloosa. One could reseasonably deduce that the conversation centered around paying college athletes. He is the poster child for guys who lost a chance at money in the league due to an injury.

Meh, I doubt it. Lowder and his influence at Auburn have been well documented.

Still get nauseous thinking about that injury.

That didn't stop the NCAA from going back five years in Alabama's 2002 case.

They have talked to.a few other bama guys as well. As well as a couple of other sec guys from other schools besides au and bama.

IF, big IF, HBO has something "bombshell" worthy, then yes, it could be ugly. However, if you can isolate the focus of other press to the McClover thing, then you have bought yourself time between now and when the documentary airs to work on a counterpoint to that info. This is obvious b/c HBO is not going to play their hand BEFORE the documentary airs.
However, if the true "bombshell" (again, IF it exists) becomes known before the documentary, then AU will have other media outlets reporting on it between now and then and, thus, the focus is not taken away.
See my original point now?

Fbaum talks out of both sides of his mouth... said that writers (sportsbybrooks, Thayer) got embarrased by Cam (They believe him guilty) and will turn over rocks to prove their basic theory that Auburn is guilty... I doubt the HBO has anything to do about Cam, but more about agents, etc...
