...and Cuonzo Martin will be going as a coach for the first time

But my question for Tennessee fans is that do you still think he is a viable long term answer to be your basketball coach?

I honestly see being a fringe NCAA tournament team like this season as his ceiling.

Looking at UTs lineup, the fact it took him this long to lock up a bid is pretty pathetic. They should easily be a top 3 or 4 seed.... Not a fringe 6 or wherever they'll end up.

If UT gets in, I can't see any higher than a 9 seed. The SEC is despised (basketball); remember LSU won the conference pretty soundly a few years back and was in the 8/9 seed.

Are you talking about 06? Y'all were a #4 seed in the Atlanta regional.

We've been playing good down the stretch, but the offense has to start clicking again tomorrow for us to have a chance with UF.

FTR, I'm thrilled about a NCAA Birth, and thought Martin brought it together when he needed to. That doesn't mean I'm in his corner with coaching, but I hope that he/they succeed and make a run in the tournament. Way too much talent not to make a decent run

I think Tenner fans bashing Martin is asnine. I was begging for Mizzou to hire him before we fricked up and hired Haith. Cuonzo can coach.

LSU went 25-6 (13-3) in 2009 and was ranked in the top 20 (coaches poll). They were rewarded with the 8-seed, facing the overall top seed UNC in the second round.

He is a middle of the road coach imo. His teams usually give effort and play hard but he needs an assistant who knows half-court offense. At times we are unwatchable offensively.

His recruiting strategy has been to go after 1/2 elite players a year and the rest borderline top 150 players or worse. He has landed Stokes/Hubbs but finishing 2nd for Nichols and Looney is really going to hurt next year.

I definitely think there are better coaches out there, but looks like he will hang on at least another year unless he bails for the Big 10. That would probably be the best case scenario.
