If it is normal to take up to 9 months for a specialist to schedule a MRI for a patient exhibiting ongoing symptoms then our medical system really is broken.

To suggest that Brian Kelly had any culpability or interest in Brooks being misdiagnosed is just dumb.

Dalton had a brain CT scan and it showed absolutely nothing.

Where was the breakdown?
They let a player who was exhibiting symptoms that something was definitely not right neurologically complete fall camp and play in two games before performing a MRI.
That is where the breakdown occurred.
Once a MRI was performed and a correct diagnosis was made, things were severe enough that immediate emergency brain surgery was performed.
Sit the guy until you figure out what is wrong with him. Maybe 6 weeks of football, much of it full contact, didn’t make it worse. But it certainly didn’t make it better.
If this had happened at another school the same people defending LSU would be trotting this out on a regular basis.
And if Greg Brooks Jr. were their son, the same people calling Greg Brooks, Sr. the villain would instead be demanding justice for their son.

Is the healthcare system in Louisiana really so shitty that scheduling a follow up with a specialist is a really big deal? You make it sound like a really big deal. It seems to be common operating procedure here for general practitioners to refer patients to a specialist.

Greg Brooks Jr’s dad is a piece of shite who’s trying to suck every penny he can out of this situation

Blaming Kelly for the misdiagnosis is about getting $$$$$$$ and other fans trolling.
It's sad what happened, but it happens (fortunately, rarely)
Players bashing their heads all day in 95 degree heat often have these symptoms.
I'm sure he could have gone to the university health center on his own or a doctor on his parent's insurance for a second opinion.
Truth is, he probably wanted to keep playing and thought it was nothing serious.

I do know if I went to the Dr w same symptoms I bet I would be treated for vertigo for months before they proceeded w a scan. Insurance wouldn’t dream of paying for it
If your insurance won’t pay for a basic scan that your doctor orders you might want to be shopping insurance. Who is your current provider?

Those off an on symptoms were indicative of a brain tumor?
Does an elevated PSA score mean you have prostate cancer?

No. But if it is over a certain number they will order more testing, such as an MRI and biopsy.

This is almost certainly true. But, players with concussions usually want to keep playing too. Sometimes, especially today in regards to potential head injuries, medical staffs have to make players sit.

Big deal? Are you 8? I made it sound unnecessary, did you think your primary care doctor was too incompetent to treat a sinus infection?

It was my primary care doctor who referred me to the ENT because the severe dizziness I was experiencing was not something I usually got with a sinus infection. It was severe, impacting me day to day, and I had never had dizziness when I came to see him before to get an antibiotic and steroid to knock out the occasional sinus infection. Because it was unusual, he referred me to someone who specialized in it. I guess I am lucky and have better medical care than some. And it did just turn out to be an infection that spread to my ear. But I was glad to know that, and glad to get it knocked out.
And I even learned something from the ENT. The reason I get a sinus infection every April is I have nasal polyps in my sinus cavity which trap pollen and cause a sinus infection like clockwork every year when the pollen is turning everything yellow.
Just out of curiosity, how much do you think the average MRI costs now days?

Only Bama fans would start a very unintelligent thread like this when their former star bball player is LITERALLY currently part of a trial for the murder of a young female student.
Bama fans really are the fricking best. Make us look smart as frick.

The guy not seeking help outside the team’s trainers sounds a lot like the kid texting and tweeting that he was scared for his life for however long it was before the lift blew over. Nobody dares compromising a CBK practice even for a second.
