That he's won 3 national titles and as recently as 2018 and is obviously a really really good baseball coach. The age thing is my biggest concern. I don't really like the idea of hiring a guy that may only be a 5 year hire after he said he was burned out when he retired 3 years ago. I don't like the stuff with Luke Heimlich either, but we don't know enough about that situation as far as Casey is concerned for me to say that should bar him from coaching at LSU.
Full disclosure, I'm not sure I buy all the rumors with him. There have been so many smoke screens with different coaches from different sources the past 5 days or so that it's really difficult to know what's bullshite and what's not.

no I started a thread discussing how LSU fans would spin the fact they hired a guy who played a child molester into a good thing. Which has already started on the tiger rant. Which is pretty fricking repulsive
Link to anyone spinning it into a good thing.

Tiger fans will eat lots and lots of Pizza is my guess. You're already Catholics so we know pedophilia isn't frowned on anyway.

Hey now- we gots some Catholics here too and they’re great folks. I should know as I am one- mostly or sorta am one- in that don’t go to church much at all anymore but...
I hope this doesn’t happen and nothing to do with his coaching prowess. It would be a total tone deaf hire given all the rumors and drama etc going on with LSU now to me.

LSU and more importantly Casey will be crucified in the media if they hire him. The last thing LSU needs is a whiff of anyone in their coaching ranks having condoned or supported a child molester.

It's also dumb to even go through all of that for a guy who's at the end of his career.

quote:Agreed. There's no way he wants to rehash an intensified shite media that wore him down when he chose to retire. He said "if we could just coach"...but we all know you can't just coach, LSU is a high profile baseball program in the spotlight 247.
It's also dumb to even go through all of that for a guy who's at the end of his career.

I have zero tolerance for child abuse. I have a 12 year old son and if anyone ever tried to abuse him in any way whatsoever I would end up in prison. Casey’s baseball credentials are as solid as they come , but the man retired 3 years ago because he didn’t think he could produce the effort needed to continue. So I’m not sure why any LSU fans view this guy as a positive hire.

I’m not sure what direction they go in at that point. There no denying that LSU is a top 5 job in baseball so I feel like there won’t be much trouble finding a quality coach. Hell this could all be smokescreens right now , and LSU already has their man. I feel quite certain that no announcement will be made ( or should it) until after the season is over.

I’m really not sure what this means unless you are saying that you must win and produce championships to remain the coach at Lsu. If that’s what you are saying then I hope that culture never changes! I’m not sure why any school would accept anything less. I’m glad that LSU doesn’t.

There wasn't a trial.
The victim, the pitcher's niece told her mom that he'd touched her twice when the pitcher was 15. The victim's mom reported it.
The pitcher, through the advice of his lawyer and parents, took a plea deal which gave him a slap on the wrist and a sealed record in exchange for pleading guilty. They believed this would be better than a public trial in which he would most certainly lose. The victim currently has no memory of the incidents. The pitcher has always denied wrongdoing outside of court, according to the victim's mom.
His record was unsealed through a glitch that was the fault of the authorities in Oregon and the dirty laundry was aired. The pitcher pulled out of Oregon State's postseason run in 2017 but returned to the team in 2018.
He went undrafted following his college career and was playing in Mexico the last I heard.

I should have said at the time charges were filed....sorry about that.

The mother initially told the story to the father of the victim. The story has never been told to LE, or anyone other than the mother from what I understand, by the victim. The father reported due to the obligation to report these allegations as he should have.

If nothing else, he’ll be able to tell us a firsthand account of what it’s like to watch his opponent let a foul pop up and championship bounce in between 3 players.
