Our T&F program is fine.
I feel ya. I mean, a&m has a hand sign of their own, but when they play us, they sure like using ours more!

I guess that's what happens when you know you have to latch on to a superior in order to garner a little extra relevancy

Nah. That would be the NCAA. We couldn't love the horns down more. I don't think there's anything more validating of being a meaningful program than seeing your opponent cheer against your team rather than for their own

Also, I'm still waiting for any proof that Texas, or anybody from Texas, had anything to do with this guy losing his MCWS national anthem appointment.

Nonsense.

It was an apoplectic response from ATX over a hand sign used in a sport.

If you think the NCAA was responsible, you'd have seen the countless non-hand sign references to rivals (e.g., songs, traditions, activities, half-times) addressed by the NCAA.

You may not personally care, but your fanbase/administration does, collectively.

Is that why all the threads posted on the topic are posted by aggies, with all of the responses from longhorn fans laughing at how this is a non-issue?

Lol you aggies try so hard it's adorable. I feel like reading comprehension, especially on this site, shouldn't be all that difficult. Then again, you did have to get your education from Texas a&m

The Softness of tu Rises Again

quote:

The Longhorns previously guaranteed an escalation of that silly "Horns Down" hand gesture when they whined to the Big 12 enough to actually get it banned.

quote:

That being said, if Collier's account of the NCAA referring to the "Horns Down" as an offensive gesture is true, the powers that be in Indianapolis need to suck it up and tell everyone associated with the Longhorns to grow a thicker skin. It's not an offensive gesture.

quote:

It's genuinely kid stuff. Fans are literally using the Texas gesture for Longhorns and turning it upside down to physically signal "Down with the Longhorns."

quote:

Imagine how embarrassing it would be to the Arkansas program if opposing fans started wearing hats with the Hog turned upside down and the university tried to get it banned and turn it into a penalty because it didn't believe its players were tough enough to handle it.

Even if it were taken it up a notch and the hog was skewered for roasting, which would be way worse than anything being done to Texas, it still wouldn't be worth a thought. At worst, it might get a crooked grin in reaction.

Texas has to get over this because that weak, whiny attitude is going to get them laughed right back to the Big 12 if they act like that in the SEC.

Having the "Horns Down" cost a singer his gig is going to guarantee that not only will Texas see that gesture thrown down en masse, but it's going to be emphatic and constant.

This type of behavior is why the National Anthem should no longer be played before sporting events.

Throwing a "Horns down" simply cannot be tolerated.

In fact, sporting events should probably be cancelled all together to avoid the possibility of someone throwing a "Horns down".
