Sorry, but that makes absolutely no sense. We should stop doing a cheer of ours? We're Gators, we Chomp. It's our cheer. Like you have your Roll Tide.
So, yeah, we get prickly when people mock us with it. I'm pretty sure we aren't the only fanbase that views having their own cheer turned back on them as being disrespectful.
But whatever. Not much one can do about it when your team fricking sucks, so you get to live through all the bullshite again. *sigh*

Was the comment directed at you? No. This kid talked shite leading up to the game all week, with threads that I can bump if you'd like. He was clearly way off base, and then disappears during the game yesterday and all thereafter.
ETA: Act like you even have the defense to kick me off the Florida board anyways.

You sound like Mack Brown claiming the "horns down" is disrespectful. Pissing on someone's grave, or walking on the grass at a War memorial with signs that say don't walk on the grass is disrespectful. Someone doing a gator chomp in a mocking way definitely isn't meant to show reverence, but it isn't disrespectful.

The intent is not to show respect. The intent is to mock. Mocking is disrespectful. I don't give a damn if they do it or not though regardless of intent. Just pointing out my opinion on the logic of saying it's not disrespectful.
I would not have posted that it was disrespectful though. It's different with students. They aren't expected to behave in a respectful manner and they had fun doing it. It's all good. I have no problem with it.

I mean no disrespect. I didn't like expansion. I don't like it now. I'll get used to it. I didn't like it the first time either. I didn't think Arky was a good fit then then and I still think of them more Big12 ish. I've gotten used to them.

I would argue that disrespect very likely depends on who is the giver and who is the receiver. Eyes of the beholder, as such.
Then again, this is coming from someone who merely cheers for her own team rather than putting down or mocking other ones. Just the way I was raised. So, I very much hate being chomped at by opposing fans, or having to hear the "It Sucks To Be A Florida Gator/It's Great To Be A Gator Hater" chant when making the Walk of Shame out of the stadium, etc. Because I don't do that sort of thing to the opposing fans. I don't do that because I know how much it sucks to have it done to you.
I have always been of the opinion to cheer for your own team rather than diss the other one. But again, I admit to being raised in what appears to be a much different way from others when it comes to attending football games. My family was very old school and respectful of others.
