State has a winning record against Ole Miss, Kentucky and A&M over the past decade.

Last 10 games:
2021: Ole Miss won 31-21
2020: Ole Miss won 31-24
2019: State won 21-20
2018: Vacated win by State
2017: Ole Miss won 31-28
2016: State won 55-20
2015: Ole Miss won 38-27
2014: Vacated win by Ole Miss
2013: State won 17-10
2012: Vacated win by Ole Miss

On field, Ole Miss leads 6-4. After vacated wins, Ole Miss still leads 4-3.

They could easily get a shot at playing Clemson, ND, Oregon in the playoffs.

If you think they will continue to be in the playoffs every year.

Look, I'm just stating why I believe they would fight for an 8 game schedule. I think the main reason that 7 teams are siding with the 1-7 schedule is because of the 8 game conference schedule vs a 9 game conference schedule, not necessarily because they only want to keep only 1 SEC rival. UGA, UF, UK, and USCe have previously voted against 9 game conference schedule with one of the reasons (but not the only reason obviously) being that they play an OOC P5 rival every year. That is not new news.

Again, I think the 3-6 schedule wins out in the end.

I can understand the fight because only playing 8 conference games has yet to hurt the SEC in the eyes of the committee despite all the bitching from the Big 10.

I say that's awesome. frick all the little rent-a-win games. They, among other things, are sucking the life out of this sport!

I totally agree with you on that. Heck, I wish the P5 conferences would separate from the NCAA completely, and force everyone to play only P5 schools.

My guess is that the 1-7 proponents are less worried about number of power 5 level opponents and more worried about how the season will be structured in terms of home and away balance. Teams will need their OOC games to specifically be home games in years where the schedule has 5 conference road games.

I think Ga. would be against 1-7.

I’m pretty sure that’s what was shown in the SI example.

That's smart...put the 2 teams totally opposite in location as perms.

Then again, Mizz. in the East???

For clarification: yes, schools are split at this time on voting for either the 3-6 or the 1-7 format.

So obviously teams that want to keep more than 1 locked in game every year are the first group of 7.

So who is it?

Bama, Georgia and Auburn are easy.

A&M I would guess is also voting for the 3-6 format.

Who are the others that want more than one locked in?

And follow up question. If it stays tied, what breaks the tie? Sankey, Bama’s vote is worth 1.5?

My hunch is that Ole Miss is in the group that wants more than 1 locked in. I would assume that we'd want Mississippi State, LSU, and Vandy locked in if we can swing it.

I would assume that teams that have a locked in out of conference rival would want 1-7, since a 9-game conference schedule squeezes their nonconference opportunities more. So Florida and South Carolina would be in that group maybe.

What I'd like to see for LSU: Mississippi, Bama, Florida.

What I'm afraid a future SEC schedule will look like for LSU:

UTx
@OU
Miz
@Ark
A&M
@USCe
O Miss
@State

Because the SEC will NOT seperate same-state schools (Aub.-Ala., Tn.-Vandy, Miss.-MSU)

Same here. That's not these schools joining the SEC; that's LSU, Ole Miss, and Miss. State joining the Big 12.

Exactly.

I forgot to add...

What's likely for LSU: Mississippi, A&M, Arkansas.

...which wouldn't be too bad as long as there are enough real SEC teams on the schedule.

The poors are the ones who want to keep things at 8 conference games so they can continue to make that extra revenue.

Miss State
Kentucky
Missouri
Ole Miss
S. Carolina
Vanderbilt

The other one is a tossup between Arkansas and Tennessee. It could go either way.

Auburn, Georgia, Alabama, Florida, LSU, and A&M have got to be the ones wanting to go to 3-6.

Think Auburn is wrong as usual. I think Ole Miss would want to protect its series with State, LSU, and Vandy.

State really only has us as a major rival/series, so they might be more interested in the 1-7 arrangement than we would be. They have played LSU a ton of times, so they might want to protect that as well.

Vandy would probably want to be sure they play us and Tennessee. They definitely want to at least play Tennessee.

South Carolina and Kentucky have OOC rivalry games and no can't-live-without SEC series. They'll want the 1-7 arrangement.

Missouri is a mystery to me, but I bet they'd like 1-7, with the 1 being Arkansas or Oklahoma.

But 3-6 or 2-7 gives 1/2 the conf. an extra H game

An EVEN # of conf. games eliminates that issue & gives THAT symmetry.

HOWEVER, UGA, Fl., SC, & Kent. would NOT want to do 10 because that schedule with the ACC opponent only leaves 1 slot for anybody.

Me too. I'd think they'd want to lock in games with Auburn and Florida.
