Enough of a reason for me, he was a war hero and won a NC. Why would you care, Dye never won a NC>
Before he was named head coach of the Auburn University football team, before he led the Tigers to a record 176 wins, before he was elected into the College Football Hall of Fame, then-Capt. Ralph “Shug” Jordan was one of 156,000 troops who stormed the beaches of Normandy on June 6, 1944.
“I think about him every year about this time. A lot of people’s fathers left and didn’t come home,” Jordan’s son, Ralph Jordan Jr., said. “…We’re losing that generation. They’re almost gone.”
A member of the U.S. Army’s First Engineer Special Brigade, Jordan was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his action during the invasion.
“Coach Jordan was a war hero,” said longtime friend Wheeler Foshee, who met Jordan at Auburn in 1953. “He was also an excellent football coach.”

The city football stadium in Selma is also named after Shug Jordan. How many people can say they have two stadiums named in their honor?

Yea but to fair Jordan-Hare sounds a lot better than Dye-Hare. One sounds like a Michael Jordan shoe, and the other sounds like Dennis Rodman.

There's also a building on the Alabama campus that is partially named after him.
