I keep asking myself why Danny Sheridan is out there claiming the things he is claiming, but saying it's 50/50 or depending on if a witness comes forward ect ect..
It the occurs to me why he might be doing this.. What if he is being fed info to try and flush a witness out or anyone with info? Hell they think AU did it, but they can't prove it. Why not feed Danny some info and see if it stirs up some activity? Hell maybe they are hoping someone gets scared and thinks they are about to go down, and comes forward to save their own neck.
My theory makes as much or as little sense as anyone else.

Something to ponder.... If Sheridan is right and the NCAA now hammers auburn then they will have to answer who the mole is.
If they now ignore it then they maintain integrity about silence during investigations.
I don't believe Sheridan but if he is right then he may have helped auburn skate

quote:Probably not. But you can establish spending patterns and see how they changed. For example, regular purchases on credit/debit now disappear. Did he stop paying for those or start paying in cash? Gives you a place to look. You can also then identify assets for which there is no paper record of and investigate the source of that/those assets further. Many other things 3 years of bank records can tell you, but you get the point.
I don't think he would have been dumb enough to put it in the bank. Like I said pay with cash. Buy a dress, a new Auburn hat, things he may have charged or not bought before.

how would the NCAA know what their spending habits were?

Bank and credit card statements for the past 3 years is how I would find out.
bullshite ~ I play cards regularly in private games in town and out of town. I've won thousands and lost thousands over the years....
But, when the cards are falling my way, and I'm cash heavy, I pay cash for everything I do, dinning out, vacations, gas, school tuition for my kids, etc. That money never hits my bank account and not one expense is paid with a credit card.

How does this thread still have life? It's like a cd stuck on loop.

The absence of info on a bank record can be nearly as telling as its presence.
For example, I know your kid's tuition was paid, but there is no record of that payment being made, Mr. 1941, how did that get paid?

You can go from eating steak and paying with credit to paying cash. Also Mr. Newton turned over what he wanted to turn over.
He turned over what they told him to turn over.
Honestly, there's no way for him to win a point with some people. If there's no paper trail, it's because he's some brilliant money launderer that knows how to cleverly disguise his financial transactions in the system. If that excuse doesn't float, then he's been secretly buying small things (like "steak") in cash at untraceable locations. If that doesn't work then he buried it in a safe out in the woods somewhere and hasn't touched a penny and doesn't plan to dig the safe up until the year 2023 when people have finally moved on and forgotten about this.
I mean, he can't win.
There's an old prosecutorial saying - in a murder case, you've got to have a body. The problem with this case is they don't have a "body" (yet) and it's not for a lack of looking.

No question that the NCAA uses the media in these type deals.
Hell, without the media's help, no school would ever get sanctioned. It's smart of the NCAA to use the media to help with the investigation.
So I definitely think your theory could be correct and that someone in the NCAA is using Sheridan as a pawn to help flush out some more info.

That is the point...if his statement shows he paid a lot of stuff with credit cards and now all of the sudden he is not...and no paper trail...the only option is what?

What's the crime they're saving their own neck from? paying amateurs is an NCAA violation, not a crime. Even any potential tax evasion would be on the Newton's and not on the bagman.
Posted on 7/29/11 at 3:29 pm to JPLSU1981
My thought is that if they had identified a bagman or a witness, they would have already interviewed him. There wouldn't be this BS of they found a witness, but they need him to come forward. Why do they need someone they identified to come forward??? Too much of his story sounds like he is putting info out there to try and scare people into coming forward.

It's not saving their neck from a crime, it's saving their own reputation.. Guys who pay 200k for a qb probably have a lot to lose business wise if they get nailed as a bagman, especially in this state.

If you're smart ~ you keep on paying the normal/regular shite with your bank account. Monthly bills/mortgage/car payments, etc.
When you have some extra cash, you start takin out the wife to a nice dinner, steak for instance instead of making her cook dinner. When you have cash, you buy the kids extra shite, other than the normal shoes, clothes. When you have cash, you take the family to the beach or the mountains for a weekend. Pay cash for it ALL no credit cards, no paper trail.
Now, if you don't have an influx of extra cash, the wife is cooking dinner, you stay your arse home with your kids on the weekends and don't go buy your son an extra pair of $100 cleats or a nice $400 baseball bat, the daughter doesn't get the $200 Costa's she wants and the whole family can make your life hell.
I live this shite ~ and believe me, life is easier when you have cash on hand to make everybody happy.
