For many reasons, not just the one from 17 years ago. For it was on this day, 105 years ago, one Paul William Bryant was born into this world.
Happy Birthday, Coach!

It's no coincidence that all of this stopped when he died.

Moro Bottom, AR, the people of Alabama thank you.
If any of you baws from across the SEC are ENs, you can count Coach as your brother.

Well there went the idea that he was a snappy dresser.

I ask y'all to watch this. I hadn't heard it in some 12-15 years but hearing it now put chills on my skin and a lump in my throat. Lest we ever forget that nearly 3000 souls never came home that day. America needs to stop fighting for a day and remember how close we all truly became that clear blue morning.

I wonder if that pic is from 1982? If so, Alabama gave Penn State’s its only loss that year as Nittany eventually won the NC.

"It was my first start as Alabama's quarterback qb. I went out there and we ran a play and I pitched the ball on the ground and the other team falls on it. I run off the field and ran right up to Coach Bryant who was standing next to oc Mal Moore. I just knew an arse chewing was coming and I wanted to get it over with. Coach Bryant looks at me and says "Kenny, Mal wants to apologize right now for calling that play." Kenny Stabler

In a county that boasts of 6 notable people on its wiki page, how do Coach Bryant and Johnny Cash get listed 4th and 5th on the list? They fell behind, a Turkey farmer who ran against Bill Clinton in 1980 with marginal success, an accused serial killer, and an obscure 1 term depression era governor... talk about burying the lead.

This post is horribly out of place in this thread.

My momma held off her labor for a day to ensure I wasn’t born on the same day as him. She was all Auburn.

and the attack on the twin towers that sent thousands of men and women to war. You know but no big deal.

That game was played at Legion Field.
We had a 10 year series with PSU so it's hard to tell which game that pic is from.

Yeah, but it started in 1981. So the picture can only be from 1981 since he died after the 1982 season.

Note in the picture "Penn State" is wrapped around the goal post. Also you can see natural grass on the field. This picture was from November 14,1981 in State College/University Park, PA. Alabama defeated Penn State 31-16. The win was Coach Bryant's 314th win tying him with Amos Alonzo Stagg for the most wins ever.
