Hello, everyone! Here are the results from the Week 1 Power Rankings polls, both PR Board and Community. Based on these polls, rankings #1-7 are easy to lay out, as well as #13 and #14. However, there was a decent amount of shuffling when it came to #8-12, which saw having the same ranking across both polls. Thanks to everyone who participated!

UGA Poster: UGA Defense played lights-out but the offense, hobbled with injuries, left a lot to be desired against a stout Clemson defense. UGA had a quality win against one of the best teams in the country and gave us confidence moving forward. For week 2 against UAB, I expect more of the backups to get reps and experience with so many starters injured on offense. J.T. Daniels will attempt to prove the off-season hype against a lesser opponent in spite of the depletion of his prospective receiving targets. The defense will look to replicate their performance against Clemson and show that they really are the best defense in the country.
Kentucky Poster: Kentucky, they did well but still have a lot to work on. Got sloppy with penalties and as great as Levis was, he seemed to struggle on short passes. I hope we see more emerge from the run game, given that our run game is just part of who we are. Against Mizzou, I expect penalties to get cleaned up and the game to be more varied. Mizzou is a much better team and if we make silly errors resulting in massive amounts of yardage lost to penalties, it'll be a long game. That being said, they said week 1 to 2 is when teams improve the most. I fully expect that to be the case on both sides of the ball
Funny
Vanderbilt Poster: Vanderbilt. Do you have to ask clark?
Alabama Poster: Alabama made sure everyone understood Miami was NOT back in week 1. Week 2 Bama faces Mercer so it will be a good time to get some yard work done.
Missouri Poster: I’m Abraham Lincoln. I cheer for Missoura.
LSU Poster: awful. For week 2, possibility that O rips off his shirt and fights his son (starting QB for McNeese)

Texas A&M - The Aggies played a very sloppy opener. It was clear Jimbo and company wanted to test a few things out before the week 2 step up in competition vs Colorado. Haynes King showed flashes of brilliance between his turnovers. Wide Receivers did as well between their drops and tips to opposing players. The Running Backs picked up right where they left off in 2020, completely dominant. The OL did okay. It'll take time to gel. On defense, outside of some over pursuit by the ends and too much hero ball (trying to make every tackle and not just fulling your gap) they were good. Passing grade, but not the force they were in 2020 just yet. Elko made excellent halftime adjustments. As mentioned before, the Colorado Buffaloes are next in the "neutral" site game in Denver. This is a nice step from Kent State at home without jumping straight into a hostile SEC environment vs a ranked opponent.

Missouri played pretty poorly in week 1 but did escape with a victory. Bigger test in week 2 and both Kentucky and Mizzou should know more about themselves on Sunday.

Arkansas Slow start A tough texas team
quote:
Arkansas-Less of 1st half, more of 2nd half. Not beating Texas if they play that sloppy again.
quote:
UGA - an impressive performance by our D - we were stagnant on offense, but should get better as key skill players come back

Dawgs with the win over a top 5 team... defense looked the part. Offense is still a question mark. Not ready to say they aren't improved, simply that we are still in "show me" mode. I can rationalize/buy that the staff said... "they can't beat us unless we make a big mistake on O", but zero offensive TDs is less than comforting. Running the final drive down their throats despite them knowing that's exactly what we were going to do was promising, but with JT oblique issues, it seems there may still be more questions than answers coming out of this week against a good but not exceptional UAB. Shouldn't be a letdown game in the traditional sense, as they may be the best team on the schedule for a couple more weeks, but easy to see a step back from the level of dominance that the defense showed last week.
quote:
Oh no! Aggie had 4 interceptions by 2 rookie qb’s and we were only leading by 38 in the final minutes It was treated by the coaching staff as a scrimmage/game to test the Oline and new qb. Hopefully this week we look a little smoother in execution but way too early to say if we’re going to be great, good, or whatever.

Alabama pulled out a 44-13 victory over the Miami Hurricanes in Atlanta. New Tide QB Bryce Young had a great first start and the defense looked really good. Next up are the Bears of Mercer. God help them.
quote:
I know pummeling Akron is nothing to be proud of, but it's really nice to see this Auburn team not struggle against lesser competition. Alabama State should be another tune up game prior our true test against Penn St on Week 3
quote:
Florida Played a pretty good game against FAU but 3 big mistakes from Emory Jones made the game look a lot closer than it was. The emergence of AR15 has also created a qb controversy. The defense still looked vulnerable but better than last year. Now they get a crappy USF team to iron out the kinks before the expected blood bath against Alabama in week 3.
quote:
Florida looked promising, but I am only cautiously optimistic we will go 8-4 or better this year as we will likely stick with Emory starting due to his loyalty. Get your head out of your arse, Mullen, start AR15!

Each week, I post a link that allows you to take the Community Power Rankings poll! Look for next week's poll to be posted after this weekend's football action has ended - will go live on Sunday afternoon, and I'll bump the thread periodically to make sure everyone has a chance to see it.

Ain't no such thing as a Texas Aggie.
There's little brother A&M and there's the Texas Longhorns.
