I have a question. Setting aside morality and off the field stuff and banging co-eds and just looking at on the field accomplishments for a coach:

Was Les Miles, Curly Hallman, Nick Saban, or Jerry Dinardo as accomplished with a career record anything close to Petrino when LSU hired them?

Here is an example: Les Miles was 16-16 in the Big 12 coming off a 5th place finish out of 6 teams in the south division and a trip to the mighty Alamo Bowl.

How about bama? Saban was a HR hire, granted. That was shear luck and timing after Rich Rod turned them down though. How about Shula, Price, Fran, Dubose, Stallings, Curry, Perkins? Were any of them even close to as accomplished as Petrino? Hell no. Some even had losing records as a head coach.

Thanks, Tiger, you just made my point.

Tier 2 teams ignore morality, off the field stuff, banging co-eds, and leaving a place in absolute disarray, when considering a head coach. They will sell their soul to the devil in return for quick wins. They ignore the long term detriment it might cause.

Tennessee did it when they hired Kiffen. Arky did it when they hired Petrino.

So, no, not considering my position, because you are making my point. Top tier teams, like the ones I have listed, would NOT even consider hiring Petrino right now.

Funny, none of you will answer my question. You all ignore it, or make some joke, or say "they don't have an opening". But think about it. Why would Bama, Georgia, Florida, LSU, all not even consider Petrino if they had a current opening?

No one from Auburn will answer this. Why?

What he's saying is true. If Auburn was the program the program we say it is, there is no way we would consider a coach that was fired from Arkansas as our top candidate. Why is it so difficult for Auburn fans to acknowledge that they are begging for a coach not even Kentucky wants to hire?

undecided, I now you think I'm a rantard, but this is the only point I'm trying to make. Props to you for saying it.

Absolutely crazy.

But I can see how you, having your sights set on him, will put blinders on about this. But trust me, any fan from these schools would tell you they would want no part of Petrino, nor would their university consider him.

So who is a better proven HC than Petrino right now? He has proved that not only can he coach in the SEC, but he can make a real shitty team (Arkansas) look like a top 10 team.

Tiger, why you talking in riddles? Best available coach? Who said that was Petrino? You?

The question is, would Bama or LSU hire Petrino?

Or FL, or GA?

Focus, we're talking about Petrino, only. Fans of these universities, you can weigh in, do you want Petrino, assuming your coach quit today?

Hiring petrino would be pretty hypocritical. I welcome it though, good luck recruiting against Alabama in the Bible Belt with a promiscuous adulterer

That is fricking awesome rubble can I use as as sig quote?

Not many. Not very many at all. And probably none that are truly available. Maybe 5-10 coaches in the country period.

Bottom line is football is a $100 million + industry at AU. The best man for the job is the best coach available and Petrino is on a very short list.

Also, like I pointed out, he is infinitely more qualified than 9 of the last 10 coaches hired by either bama or lsu.

And why are you even doing this? AU fans want what is best for AU. Many of us believe that is Petrino. Quit whining and acting all bitchy about it.

Even if you remove the adultery, Petrino's track record still includes notifying Falcons players by leaving a note on their locker plus Jetgate and all the other job searches he was involved in while at Louisville.

He has never beat our biggest rival, has recruiting issues which will not help against said rivals, fields awful defenses in a defense-first conference, and has never even won the SEC West

Alabama is about to play for their 3rd NC in 4 years and you guys want to hire a guy with that many red flags to compete? #EPICFAIL

Petrino is the best coach on the list except for NFL coaches that have been floated like Fisher, Gruden etc. We just fired the most moral "do gooder" in the profession. Of course, if you listened to the media - Chizik was the scum of the profession and constantly cheated. Lol - So who cares what people outside of AU think.

OK. Let's assume this is true.

Why would the other top tier SEC schools I listed not touch Petrino as a HC hire?
