Petrino is not an attractive name IMO
It would look terrible/slightly funny to see AU hire a coach with his recent background amidst the investigation going on right now.

He will have a much better chance at beating his nemesis, Les Miles, while coaching AU as opposed to Arkansas.

Hard to argue with what he did a UL and UPig. Doubt he gets the nod at AU but based on his on field track record he would be competitive. The NCAA sanctions are coming to AU and the sales job is not so easy as it once was. UT and AU are both looking at a couple of years more before you can be relevant. A couple years of isolation may give Petrino a chance to rebuild his rep.

This is really what it comes down to. Most believe Petrino is the best coach available. Not all, but I believe it is safe to say it is a consensus opinion.
So what matters to AU?
What rival fans say on message boards and in the media?
Or winning football games?
It really is that simple to me.

The thing is the Volleyballer was the last in a long line of Petrino going back to his time at Louisville when he was continually interviewing for other jobs, including Auburn, while he was the HC. I have no doubt that Peteino would find a new and embarrassing way to screw Auburn before it was all said and done

The vollyeballer was just the one he was caught with up here, by no means was it the only one, but he did not hire the rest to be on his staff and give large out of pocket cash bonuses up front...
