Never seen an SECCG that wasn’t sold out?
Did Texas fan spend too much money on tickets for the aTm game?
Did Ga fans spend too much money on white claws and bail bondsmen?
I’m very curious why it wasn’t sold out had Tennessee of been in it every seat would had been taken.
Now those 2 teams could be facing lots of travel in this playoff, are yall just not planning on traveling or just staying home watching it on the big screen?

I noticed tickets were much cheaper than the uga vol game last month.

I don’t understand why it wasn’t full I guess lots of people just didn’t want to watch a rematch.
The game was interesting would have been a great game to watch live in my opinion

Texas doesn't travel well, should have never been let into the SEC.

All that oil money and they don’t travel?

They are going to be surprised when their schedule changes and they see how well the SEC teams do travel.

Vandy doesn’t travel much either but it’s hard to get them to show up at their own stadium.
Too embarrassed

According to McConaughey Texas wasn't alloted as many tickets as UGA ... yet Texas fans didn't snatch-up the available tickets that were there for the taking.

There were many empty seats at KO but by the end of the 1st quarter it was 99% full. Don’t know why so many came in late.

My Son and two if his buddies went to Atlanta without tickets and managed to buy three tickets, together, for under a grand four hours before kickoff. He said there were tickets to be had.

Fanbases don't travel like they used to in general.

ASU probably didn't send much more than 10,000 to Dallas. We'll probably send a comparable amount to Atlanta, so it'll be heavy on Texas/Clemson fans... unless the Texas fans don't show up. It's fricking pricey now for the long trips.

70s and 80s ASU fans did shite like this-
ASU Michigan Rose Bowl

We can't do that anymore. Most teams can't.

Flipside, if they were concerned about attendance, they'd make which bowl it went to malleable. ASU could fill the Fiesta Bowl. Georgia could fill the Peach Bowl.

Both teams knew they were in the playoffs, which takes away from the game a little, but more importantly, gotta save up for the Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finals….

Kirby speculated about this in his post game presser. Suggested that after 7 straight appearances, UGA fans know the tailgating scene well and eventually made it their seats. He said the game didn't have the same "juice" at KO, but got better. This was never an issue with Bama or LSU on the other side, btw.

This answer was in response to a question about the relevance of conference championships in the CFP world.

I just watched that video.

Maybe these schools have priced the tickets too high getting greedy.

Then hotels and food factor in we all have to eat.

It’s just unusual seeing that many empty seats unless it’s a Vandy game.

aTm was selling tickets to the Texas game 1600.00 to 2000.00 crazy amount for a college game.aTm has a huge stadium I guess they made enough off that game to pay off their former coach.

SECCG should always be a sellout will probably be Texas last trip to Atlanta lol

Had that been lsu bama Tennessee aTm or any other sec program wouldn’t be an empty seat

We just played LSU there two years ago. LSU may have been 40% of the crowd if that. Same in 2019 on their way to a national title. It was talked about on this board in 2019 and the Tigers said they were saving their money for their title run. Don't speak for others. You all are very thirsty, so I get it with you.

I just don't get the prioritization. Why is ASU in Atlanta when Georgia is in New Orleans? Why is Boise in Phoenix when ASU can fill that stadium up by itself instead of trying to fly 20,000 fans across the country to play another team that will probably be coming from 900 miles away? You're gonna get empty seats again.

It's one thing to hop in the truck and be there 6 hours later. It's another to drive 2 days to get there. It means you're flying, renting a car, all that other stuff when more and more the fanbases are pretty okay watching from home.

Game has been "sold out" for 30+ years. I suspect the waiting list, if there is one, for future games is several years out.

I have been buying 4 tickets to the game since 1994. There have been many years where the tickets weren't worth face value and many where they were worth just slightly more than face value. There have also been years when they were worth significantly more than face value. This year was bad as far as resell value goes - so bad that we used ours instead of selling them for just above face value. It wasn't as bad as 2002 when I literally could not give away 2 tickets and used them to put coats in the seats of the club level. That was very bad.

I think both fan bases knew that their team was looking at another couple of games with travel involved and hedging their bets so to speak. The game has been reduced to an exhibition game for all intents and purposes....it is fun as hell to brag about winning the title but at the end of the day it doesn't mean much when you know you've made the playoff . Again, winning it does not provide a week off because UGA was prepping last week while almost everyone else was taking the week off. Texas, on the other hand, was also prepping last week and played a brutally physical game and now has to do so again in 2 weeks. There is no real upside logistically. When you consider the Carson Beck injury it not only is meaningless it is extremely risky.

I know a bunch of people who have been buying the tickets for years. I also talked to a bunch Saturday. Almost everyone I know or talked to is considering not buying them going forward. I will continue to do so and I suspect most of them will but it may be that someone can actually buy tickets this year and for the foreseeable future if they were so inclined.

The CFP has more or less rendered the game an exhibition game...it is not inconceivable in the future that players will opt out or coaches will sit starters in the game going forward. Its just to much risk with the only real reward being able to beat your chest if your team wins.

Generally speaking the SEC champion plays in the Sugar Bowl. As a UGA fan I would much rather UGA be heading back to Atlanta. My son and I are going to the Sugar Bowl and will probably spend somewhere in the neighborhood of $3K in doing so. We would spend about $1000 on the Peach Bowl.....

People know its a useless game. All that matters are the playoffs. Who wants to spend money on the SECCG when they can spend their money on playoff tickets.......Then Georgia gets their first round draft QB hurt in a useless game so the SEC can line their pockets. They whole thing is stupid. Not sure why it takes so long to fix a system DIV 2 has had figured out for decades.
