Not just that, many SEC fans like me refused to watch a single play of this game when the result will most likely be vacated in the near future. All of these folks watched last year's game (and all other SECCG's) but refused to watch a cheating team prosper.

Yeah, I was in and out watching it. Auburn being dirty and South Carolina's mediocrity just didn't do much for me.

Could the score have affected the ratings...

I can't explain it. The whole Barn thing just has the LPGA or WNBA feel to it. It's like they brought the second tier in.

yeah mostly tuned out for me

I didn't have to watch to think I knew the result anyway - IMO Auburn is just a much better team

Usually I would still watch the game - even if it were say a mismatch like 05 arky vs 05 uga... out of interest in seeing good football

But I really have kinda a sick feeling in my stomach from the idea this whole SEC and probably NC is going to be wiped from the record books

I think this is how I would have felt about USC if the Bush stuff had broken in the news before the 2004 season was complete

I know this is 8 pages deep, but I'm responding to the OP.

Last year was #1 vs #2. It was basically a national semi-final. Involving the two biggest programs in the SEC and with a household name like Tebow involved.

The ratings had to have dropped just by virtue of that. Yeah though, it wasn't that sexy of a matchup so the national audience just didn't tune in.

clearly, i'm not the only person that feels this way so your reaction doesn't have much meaning.

i'm also pretty sure that you would react the same way to a non-auburn team ranked #1 that was playing a known ineligible player.

The more you cry the harder we laugh.

He's actually known to be eligible which was confirmed by the NCAA and SEC last week.

I tried to watch but honestly kept thinking that the NCAA is going to erase their whole season so I tuned out too.

I may be wrong but the whole cloud of suspicion did affect my desire to watch it.

It is what it is and it seems that many felt the same way.

I tried to watch last year but the way Florida rolled over and died so I tuned it out. What happened, Tebow didn't give his Varsity Blues speech at halftime?

Let me know how the national title game ratings look when they post them compared to last year

You have trouble with someone posting their opinion on this matter don't you. You guys are so defensive it's not even funny any longer. I almost feel bad for you guys.

Go Ducks.

I didn't watch all of it only because i knew how overmatched the Cocks were. Tuned in the first time, 21-7 Auburn. Tuned in later at Hooters, 42-14 Auburn. Was pleading for them to change the fricking channel.....

It's just funny now. The jealousy and bitterness towards our "second tier" school andfootball program is quite amusing and enjoyable.
