Kendall Rogers says that this is the WORST year he has even seen for west coast baseball since he has followed college baseball.

Also, Look at some of the teams he is projecting just to host (USM, Arizona, Minnesota, Coastal Carolina) what do any of them have on their resume better than even what LSU, Ole Miss or Vandy has?

well, that is true, but the NCAA will make sure not to let that happen, just like they have done with host sites in recent years. They will try to "share the wealth" as much as they can get away with. If the SEC has 4 national seeds, that means they will have no chance at playing each other until Omaha. They also have LSU paired with FSU. I just don't see a scenario where they make it that easy for 4 or 5 SEC schools to make it to the CWS.

Who's running the NCAA selection committee? Bernie Sanders?

Not being in the SEC and subject to the "We can't give one conference six host spots!" ridiculousness.

That being said, LSU/Ole Miss this weekend is probably for a host spot. Loser gets the consolation prize of being the #2 seed at Southern Miss.

I'm just going off what has happened in the past. For instance, in 2011, Florida, Vandy, and USC all tied as conference champs. They all had top 8 RPIs, yet only Florida and Vandy received national seeds. They all 3 made it to Omaha, all finished in the final four, and USC beat Florida for the national title. The NCAA prefers to have as much regional distribution as possible with national seeds and host sites. They try to make it as difficult as they can get away with to have one conference dominate the field in Omaha. Unfortunately for them, the SEC has still managed to do it several times despite all that

The difference being there isn't going to be any teams from the Pac12 Big10 or other minor conferences CUSA, Sun Belt etc that is deemed worth of a national seed with less than 40 wins and an RPI of 15+

Well, the one thing we've got going for us, in our favor, is our facilities.

Other programs with great facilities, outside of our conference, are not having good years so I suppose there is a chance, if ever, for it to happen this year.

Plus our attendance figures will weigh heavily into their decision.

But, if it does happen I'd hate to think how they will rig the brackets to force us to cannibalize ourselves prior to and once arriving in Omaha.

They will do their best to never allow another 2011 to happen in Omaha where SCAR, Florida and Vandy finished 1, 2, 3 in the country and the entire CWS All-Tourney team was comprised of nothing but SEC Eastern Division players ... or simply SEC players for that matter. I mean it was total SEC dominance ... SEC teams only lost to other SEC teams for that matter.

They will never let that happen again.

If I could, I would lock that in right now.

Okie St is a middle of the road 2 seed, DBU is a nice program and a fairly tough 3 seed, and Princeton is just another 4 seed, but its nice to get someone on our same intellect level.

Plus we're matched up with TCU/Rice. Neither are world beaters and I would enjoy getting revenge on TCU if they can come out of their own regional. I think we owe Rice a beating in the supers too after losing to them in 07 & 08. We did knock them out of their regional in 04 & 14.

they'll try their best, at least. This also happened in 1997. The SEC West had 4 teams in Omaha (LSU, Alabama, State, and Auburn), and LSU and Alabama met in the title game.

I think you are overstating the importance of facilities. Its more like a box checked or not. You either have good enough facilities to host or you don't. Its not like USC gets bonus points over Kentucky because your stadium is bigger and nicer.

eh, that's not totally accurate. It's not as important as it once was, but it still does come into play. The NCAA is in the business of making money. If they know one team will have sell outs in large stadiums, that absolutely gives you a boost when it comes to hosting. However, they have been increasingly inclined in recent years to spread host sites out to more regions of the country to attempt to expand the sport outside the southeast and west coast, so some schools with smaller stadiums will still get host sites.

at the rate we're going, might be a long shot for LSU to host this year (as an LSU fan)

we should just designate the SEC tournament as the national title tournament and let everyone else have a "bowl" game.

I'm not sure how much thought really goes into this. Stillwater is outside the bus radius so there's no real reason for them to come to the A&M regional. I'd be shocked if Rice was given a 2 and didn't end up in College Station and our 4 seed isn't Lamar.

Another point is TCU played Rice 2 games this year vs our 1 and LSU played Lamar and we did not. But both schools are closer to us and our alternative is a traveling team so it doesn't make sense to make them go further.
