where would you classify them? they were 8-4 and only realistically could have been 9-3, which would have put them in the same bowl game

if we can find the official prediction thread, I'm fairly certain LSU fans on this site picked LSU to win it all this year

That was before losing some guys expected to contribute heavily.

You can lose a couple of guys here and there, but you can't lose multiple guys who just happen to be your key players and make it happen. The depth wasn't what we thought it was

LSU actually did well. It could have been much worse.

LSU- with almost all the key players back from a team that played for the title last year and hope for better QB play, most if not all LSU fans felt like they would be able to push past Bama this year and win it all. Failing to even get to a BCS bowl and close games against Ole Miss and Arkansas were the end result. One of Miles' worst years as a coach at LSU- expectations too high?

injured starting LT, missing starting RT, lost starting RG, lost heisman-finalist and starting CB, lost starting OLB, suspended starting OLB, injured starting RB. Key people were not back, and yes once the suspensions and injuries hit, the expectations were too high. Worst coaching job by Miles? Not even close. With the losses we took on the OL, we could've easily skidded to 8-4 ish. Miles helped keep the train on the track and we were essentially one first down conversion from playing UGA in the SECCG.

Good try though.

I expect us to be in the hunt for a MNC most every year. And we were. We were 45 seconds (or one Copeland penalty) away from playing Georgia in Atlanta. Also, if you told me before the season the attritition we were going to face and that JFF was going to elevate that program to the level he did along with usual SEC business I'd have been hesistant to say we'd win 8. (And yes, I realize that the "45 seconds" works the other way and we were only a few plays away from losing 4.)
