It seems like as far back as I can remember (im 24), the SEC East has always been considered the better division. Do you see that trend ending or ended?

Personally, I see more parity now than we've seen over the last few decades.

Here's how I see the next few years going:

SEC West:

1 a&b: LSU and Bama: will be the favorites most years

2: Arky: call me crazy, but I see Petrino doing well in F'ville once he gets more established

3: Ole Miss: Nutt is good, and I see him making waves at OM compared to O, but not sustained.

On the outside: Auburn, depending on what GC can do on the plains.

SEC East:

1: Florida: it's hard to argue that as long as UM will be there, they will likely be the favorite most years

2: Georgia: in most other divisions around the country, UGA would be a heavy favorite every year, but Florida IMO will be the one to beat for a while.

3: Tennessee: not because I think they are going to be stellar, i just don't see as much competitiveness in the East.

On the outside: South Carolina, not sure if Ole Ball Coach will get a chance to make a run at Atlanta here.

Overall, I just see more parity and competitiveness in the West. In the East, I really just see a 2 man show in Florida and UGA.

Lately it's always been a two man show in the East.

The west always has AU, LSU and Bama vying for the title and Arky looking in.

Auburn will be more of a contender than OM and Arky.

The Barn has been the 2nd best team in the SEC W for the last 10 years, I wouldn't write them off for the future.

Their talent right now is subpar, but it should start getting better soon.

You should probably check your logic and reasoning at the door...you're not making sense to the flamers.

This decade the West is 86-85 vs. the East in the regular season, not counting game forfeits by Bama.

Agree. a dip is not forever.

I question the Chizic hire, but time will tell.

I guess with your age, a short memory should be expected...but for the last 25 years or so, the west has been best....just saying...

Hasnt Arky been to SEC CG same amount of times this decade? maybe once more by Auburn?

OM?

I expect AU to be back up there in no time. I still don't understand the Tubbs firing.

The majority of AU fans and big wigs grew up in Alabama during their hayday, and have a complex. They have an obsession to make sure it doesn't happen again. That's why, being from Georgia and not being exposed to it, I also don't understand the kneejerk reaction to get rid of Tubs....go figure!

I would agree that the West is the stronger division this year. No doubt.

Comparing them head to head year after year it's pretty damn close. The question is who would you take between Miss St and Vandy? They are usually the two lower tier teams in each division.

I at least think Miss State has the potential to be a good team in the future. I'm not sure Vandy can ever sign the top players to get there.

The West right now is a more competative division, I won't say stronger as I expect UF to mow through the SEC next season baring some strange meltdown.

No doubt, I'd just like to see some action at AU under Chizik before I put them higher...for now

Honestly was not an attempt to flame nf. If Tubbs was still at the helm and when back to the power running game AU used to run (save last years debacle) I would have put AU above Ole Miss and Arky as my rankings were not just about this year, but really the next 5-10 years. I may have not liked him, but I respected the hell out of Tubbs' teams -- they always played very, very well.

Absolutely, I fully expect UF to straight up waltz into the SECCG this year. I was looking at comparing really the top 3 or 4 teams in each division.

If Auburn keeps Gus and our recruiting improves I'm expecting a tougher Auburn than the previous 10 years. Tubs averaged in the 80s on offense during his tenure at Auburn, he only had one top 30 offense that was in 2004 it came in at 25th that season.

If Chizik is able to get the offense to top 40 consistently and a top 25 defense that's a 9-10 win team consistently with few down years that happened under Tubs.
