The Big 12 has their title game at Jerry World. I think the SEC could run them out of there pretty fast. They can move that back to Arrowheqd.

I'll take your word for it because I've never watched. But I tend to think that the teams that end up in the SEC tourney's championship game unnecessarily burn pitching arms before the real tourney begins. My hope is that Schloss wins 1 game in the SEC tourney and then we go home to rest up for the one that really matters (A&M lost its first 2 SEC tourney games last year and ended up in the NCAA tournament's championship series). Only moronic coaches actually try to win the SEC tourney (unless that's their team's only hope for making it to the big tourney).

Maybe if you wanted these locations you should have stayed in the Big 12?

The baseball will be a single elimination tournament this year. Seeds 9-16 will have to win 5 games to win it. Seeds 5-8 4 games and seeds 1-4 3 games. So theoretically the highest seeds don’t have to burn all their pitching to win it. Plus each team will get an off day either Thursday or Friday depending on their seed.
So overall it is a better setup this year. Teams will have opportunities to win it without completely killing their staffs. A low seeded team can make a run while a higher seed can probably give some younger or little used pitchers an opportunity to pitch on a big stage.
Plus a lot of baseball for the fans between Tuesday and Sunday.

No, that sooner is an alter just trying to start shite and push buttons.. and everyone so far has taken the bait.
Why is it in my interest to have the title games closer?
Should we also move Omaha closer to Austin? That's stupid.

I don't know if it is in your personal interest...
But I would assume that the University of Texas brass would be interested in having the football, basketball and baseball SEC tournaments in Texas as opposed to where they are currently located.
And particularly in the case of football... they would be fools to not at least advocate for it... because winning the SEC championship in Atlanta would be a tough task for any SEC school west of the Mississippi if they are playing one east of the Mississippi.

I'd rather win it on their turf. It'll be harder, but we'll be better for it when we finally get over the hump.
A SEC Championship also isn't as important as it used to be.. that sucks, but that is where we are.. (in all conferences)
Football = It's all about the Playoff. Nothing else matters except seeding, which makes it easier to get there in some cases.. There are some who thought the bye week hurt Georgia because they looked rusty. If we go to 16 teams, perhaps winning the SEC CG will become more important again.. I hope so..
Baseball - It's all about Omaha. Nothing else matters except seeding, which makes it easier to get there in some cases..
Basketball - It's all about the Tournament. Nothing else matters except seeding, which makes it easier to get there in some cases..
Either way.. I'd like it to stay where it is for 5-10 years.. then we can all look at the landscape together and see where we are.. We might all be in one big league at that point.. we may have 4-8 new teams..
There is absolutely no reason to move any of them right now.

This is one example where the SEC and B1G championship would carry a lot of weight..
Having a Top 2 Seed would give you HFA until the Championship Game.
I don't think they'll do something like this, but it would carry a lot of weight if they did.

Football is never moving to Texas, not ever.

So all 16 teams will make the baseball tournament now? The bottom 2 teams used to not make it.

We aren't moving any of our tournaments to shitty arse Tulsa or OKC right now.
You'll get to host some Women's SEC Softball Tourneys soon but that's it. We brought you in to win softball and basketball trophies. Now get to it. Chop! Chop!
Sorry shouldn't say that to an Oklahoman. Just hurry up and win some shite so we get to split up some more $.

I really like the idea of this one as well.. it allows the big bowls to stick around and fund the whole thing.. but it should also ensure that lots of fans will be at each round.. travel would be easier as well with the known locations before the year starts..
4 SEC teams on 1 side
2 ACC teams on 1 side
2 Wildcards (SEC, ACC or G5)
4 B1G teams
2 Big 12 teams
2 Wildcards (B1G, Big 12 or G5)
Round 1
8 On Campus Games
Round 2
Sugar Bowl for SEC & ACC Teams (2 Games)
Rose Bowl for B1G & Big 12 Teams (2 Games)
Round 3
Final 4 Bowl for all remaining teams (2 Games) - location known years in advance
Round 4
NC Game - location known years in advance
If you did something like this, I think you'd see a shift for the SEC Championship Game as well.
Perhaps something like this..
1 bye
2 bye
3 vs 8
4 vs 7
5 vs 6
Top 2 winners advance.. 3rd winner and best loser has a good chance as well

quote:Since when do all hardcore baseball fans own RVs? You're talking about RV owners who happen to be baseball fans.
Part of what makes Hoover so good is that there’s little issue getting butts in the seats thanks to the RV parking that attracts all of the hardcore baseball fans. It’s why moving it to Regions Field up in Birmingham’s Southside is a bad idea. Nicer more modern stadium, but the parking situation is absolute arse.
Give me hotels and restaurants within walking distance of the park. Hoover doesn't have that because it's stuck in the middle of a parking lot full of Cousin Eddie's tenements on wheels. The RV crowd can find some other parking lot to cook their nutria if the SEC were to move the tournament to a decent location.
But, frankly, with the current tournament format, you'd be crazy to travel any significant distance for this single elimination tournament. I've traveled to most of the SEC parks (going back to Fayetteville this week, and Athens in May), but I'm not wasting my time and money for a single elimination tournament in a parking lot.
