I actually enjoy these baseball threads. Everyone is much more relaxed and you can actually have a conversation

Our bullpen is about to get shelled if Beck can’t stretch it out.

It's gonna be tough but LSU can do this. They always show up big.

I honestly do not know who my Hogs would rather face tomorrow?

Already took out Florida on a Neutral Field, and both beat us at their home fields. 2/1... I think.

Greg Maddux would get 28 strikeouts with that strike zone

Think about it

LSU really doesn't have any pitching left to be honest. I'm not even worried about anything after tonight. They've at least gotten the confidence they needed going into regionals.

I think the committee sends Southern Miss to Athens to change things up this year.

Beck just hit the same spot and didn't get the call.

I can't say he struck out twice. The 2nd ball near the outside corner was definitely a ball. But the first one was the same spot as strike 3 to Bain.

Never has - no such rule. By definition, runner must beat the throw to be safe. So, you got it backwards. On a tie, runner is out.

You are correct that no such rule exists which explicitly defines a tie going to the runner. Your second, now-bolded, statement is patently false. Rule 7 Section 11 states, "A batter is out when:" with clause B giving the condition as "After a third strike not caught or after the player hits a fair ball, the individual or first base is tagged before reaching that base." So, by definition, the throw must beat the runner, which leaves the tie as technically in favor of the runner since a tie would not meet the qualification of the throw beating the runner. Of course, a true tie is not going to happen because there will be a thousandths of a second difference in nearly every case, but a true tie would, by definition, go to the runner.
