Was going to say exactly the same.

Houston is huge - and I don’t mean the population - the metro area is just ridiculously massive to get from one suburban edge to the other.

Same as DF/W.

Austin and San Antonio, although being spaced a little farther apart are melding together - only going to merge more and more in the next decade or two. Hell, they are currently building a massive project which is a biking/run/walk trail that will connect both cities called the 100 mile trail.

Yeah, the actual census term is the Houston/Woodlands/Sugar Land Metropolitan Statistical Area, spanning from Austin County on the West to Galveston/Chambers/Liberty on the East Side.

Montgomery and Brazoria are the North and South boundaries.

Shelby TX from the West to Winnie Tx on the east is about 150 miles in distance.

Looking at the overall list, there's no reason on earth why Illinois should be mediocre. They and Mizzou should be better.

Not all things are measured the same. BR, Houma/Thibideaux, Hammond, and the landmass coast are not counted in the NO metro and each is only about an hour from NO. That pushes pop in that area to over 3 million. Yes Texas metros are huge in pop, but even more so in area. Places further east generally have much smaller land divisions.

The population density of Texas is 105 people per square mile. Georgia, in comparison, is 132 per square mile. There is a HEAPING pile of Texas that contains nothing but a heaping pile of Texas. VAST areas are uninhabitable and with little or no direct access.

West Florida boundry went east to the Apalachicola River in Florida.
That was the Spanish colony of West Florida, not the Republic of West Florida. The Pearl River was the eastern boundary of the Republic.

They TRIED to add Mobile and points east, but failed.

It seems insane, but this will be 10 million in 10 years or less

Are you suggesting Texas is handling the boom well because you'd be the first person with an opinion on the matter I ever heard make that claim who wasn't running for office or politicing for someone who is....

You seem to have some kind of hard on for Texas.

Texas is a pretty unique state with a different set of problems than Georgia. I can't speak for Houston, Austin or San Antonio, but DFW is handling the influx about as well as you can expect. Living in Galveston forty years ago hardly qualifies you as knowing anything about Texas.

Traffic problems:
This is not just a state issue, but a federal, state and local issue, and I can't speak for anywhere but DFW, and they are handling it very well imo. Atlanta traffic sucks arse and don't get me started about South Florida.

Criminal Justice:
Again I think this is more of a local issue than a state issue. Collin county is great in this aspect whereas Dallas county is terrible like most big cities.

Schools:
Dallas ISD has been terrible for decades, so nothing has changed here. Collin county schools are exemplary and have handled the growth really well. When I moved to Texas in 1999 Frisco had one 3A high school and now they have ten 5A high schools.

quote:

Also just an FYI:
Collin County grew by 132% or 659,578 residents, while Denton added a net 538,490 people — a 123% increase — making these counties two of the fastest-growing, largest-gaining counties in Texas from 2000 to 2022.

Water is a different issue altogether as the eastern part of the state is lush and gets plenty of rain while the western part of the state is more arid. The largest part of the population runs right down the dividing line,

Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana have the greatest pool of football talent in America....and its not even close.
The states with the lowest population, highest concentration of black people, and lowest amount of sh*t to do other than football.....usually produce the best football players

If you ponder the greatest of the greats in football history, most of them came from one of these 3 states.

Texas would be the greatest if they didn't have a bunch of other shite to...and half their population wasn't obsessed with that steer and queer wannabe cowboy rodeo bullshite.
