Why because they beat a shifty coach kelly team

So you don’t subscribe to the notion of the team that’s #1 is that until another team beats them for it? 29-0 is deserving of a #1 ranking unless you are an idiot Barner.

This is literally bama fans trying to justify being in. Everyone knows FSU got INCREDIBLY robbed. It’s a complete travesty and a joke. shite like that makes the sport suck.

We should go back to the BCS computer model then.

Bama fans acting like other fans are the ones making major leaps in logic is hilarious.
Though, this is the same fan base that melted last year when their 2 loss, non-conference championship, team didn’t get put into the playoffs.
When you think about it from that perspective, it all makes sense.

better pray FSU doesn’t beat Georgia
Unless their first string QB makes a miraculous recovery or UGA's entire team decides to sit out the bowl game, this obviously isn't going to happen.

quote:I do know that when you have teams at 5 that end up unranked help falsely move up the first team or two that beats them and so on. Exactly how teams can jump up and then play no one else and seem like a top 10 team without doing anything. That's how Bama is where they are and claiming all these big wins but they didn't beat anyone but each other or a bunch of bad teams. UGA played in that same group were all preseason hyped but didn't drop much because they were all ranked high.
So you don’t subscribe to the notion of the team that’s #1 is that until another team beats them for it? 29-0 is deserving of a #1 ranking unless you are an idiot Barner.
Example 2 teams ranked 5 and 10 but really not top 25 could have the 10 team beat the 5 team barely and they swap to 6 and 9. Then if they play a #1 team that blows them both out they drop to 12 and 15 and the #1 team get alot of hype for beating 2 really bad teams and none are outted til the postseason. Expand this and it's the problem with preseason polls and hype.

Bama has the #5 SOS and FSU the #55. Bama was also in the top 4 power index and FSU wasn’t. Some people are overthinking this thing.

What’s getting lost in all the hand wringing is that, in the end, the committee did exactly what almost every fan here has said they should do in the past:
Highly reward huge wins against Top10 quality opponents and not punish teams so severely that it makes it stupid to even schedule these type games.
Without considering the FSU QB situation, it’s obvious that the committee put a ton of weight on these games:
Michigan Wins over Ohio St (and Penn St)
Alabama Neutral SECCG W over Top 10 Georgia
Texas W @ Top 10 Alabama
Washington 2 Wins over Top 10 Oregon
The committee sent a pretty strong message:
That Texas going to Tuscaloosa and beating Alabama was so HUGE that even going 1-1 in these type games still trumps going 0-0 in them.
That Alabama beating a Georgia team that would probably still be the Vegas favorite to win it all if the 12 team playoff was this year in Atlanta was HUGE.

There’s no way to know this. The defense was so dominant that they won their conference title game with a third stringer. You’re basically saying that you can only win with offense. Oh, and the regular season doesn’t matter.
Well, let me try it this way.
They put up 31 points against Boston College and won by 2 points.
They put up 31 vs Clemson and won in OT
They put up 27 vs Miami and won by 7
You people keep talking about “elite defense” and “championship level defense” - but they gave up points to average teams all year, and in close games.
If you want to believe they would have won those games with their backup QB, that’s ’tween you and the Lord. Nothing I can do to help you there.

There’s nothing to justify when you do everything right. Florida State won every game playing in a P5 conference (a conference that smoked the SEC in head to head matchups this season), why should they have the burden of proof? You justify things when you lose. Why doesn’t Bama have to justify losing by 10 at home to another 1-loss playoff team?

Because while Bama was playing that game against Texas, FSU was playing Southern Miss.
Bama has 2 wins better than any team FSU faced all year.
Playing the 58th ranked strength of schedule has consequences. Sorry. Suck less.

The sad part is the argument against the ACC.
Fine. The ACC sucks.
FSU should schedule a tough OOC opponent.
They go into the SEC and beat LSU.
They have Florida every year. Beat them with the backup QB.
What should FSU reasonably do? Schedule 3 SEC teams because the other 2 Big 6 weren't good enough?
