True statement. Saban gave Kirby full control over the defense in 2010 and has almost no intervention.
Well, if Saban is the real defensive backs coach, then both failed because the 2010 secondary didn't perform to its potential. I'd blame the defense more than the offense for the LSU and Auburn losses in 2010.

Best in the game is Saban.
Chavis may very well be second. As for being the best DC, yeah, I think that's possible.

Alabama is going to have the best defense in the country damn near every year with the LSU being the only real competition.
False. Florida had a better defense than you last season, and they're just beginning. Alabama has had a 5 year head start (excluding 2007).

Chavis is a god against the spread offense. I don't know why, but he has the HUNH and spread's number

I'm pretty sure Charlie Weis is the best DC. Especially when he was OC at UF.

2011 West Virginia had 500+ yards and 21 points against that elite 2011 LSU defense. Let's not forget that the Honey Badger alone played a huge role in that game becoming a blowout. LSU may be DBU, but their secondaries have their fair share of bad games just like Alabama if not more.

There is no doubt that LSU recruits talented players who operate well in his system but I don't think he has a fail proof system. Bama has exposed the underbelly of Chavis' philosophy for the past two games. The Best DC in the nation would be less predictable in my book.
It is a mistake to think that you can shut down an offense like Bama's for 60 minutes. Keeping them at 21 points the last 2 games and 6 points the game before that - heck, 21, 21, 6, and 21 the last four games is the best performance by any defense against Alabama by far over the past 4 years.
LSU needs an offense to go with the defense to beat Bama and we have not had one. Still, LSU is 2-2 in those 4 games and has given Alabama all they can handle defensively each and every game. Even the national championship game consisted of 5 FGs until the 4th quarter and Richardson's long run on an exhausted defense.
Is Chavis better than Saban/Smart? Maybe not. But, Chavis is better than anyone that Alabama has played over the past 4 years and that is not even debatable.

It doesn't matter how many yards they got. The goal is to win the game. They had so many yards because they threw the ball the whole game. Chavis executed a perfect plan in that game. Let them dink and dunk under steady pressure and kill themselves with turnovers. A bunch of hunh teams put up a lot of yards against us only to get smoked on the scoreboard!

A Bama fan has already posted the truth. A bunch of LSU fans are LSU's worst enemy. Now we have people bashing Chavis!
