Then don't run toward the play.
Its instinct to run towards the ball. Can't blame him for that. Dial clearly saw a cheap shot and took.
As I said before, I'm not saying suspend him. Just clearly acknowledge it was a dirty play.

I would still like for an Alabama fan to offer an honest response about what their reaction would be if Nick Fairley delivered a similar hit on Greg McElroy.
The fair question is how all of us would be responding if it was two non-SEC teams, teams that didn't stir up passion and hatred (which Bama does in droves).
And I believe wholeheartedly that any real football fan here, if this had been a Maryland versus Duke game, would say what an awesome block. Maybe too vicious and rough, but absolutely nothing illegal about it. A clean block on a defender.

Begging for a flag during the heat of battle? Yep
Thinking he should be suspended? Nope.

I played football and if you have a very rare opportunity to take a big hit on the quarterback when he's not expecting it that's clean and legal, it's not dirty to do so. It's fricking smart.

Yea. So start putting penalties on any lineman who pulls and traps a hapless defender. That's what we need, since that's what it technically was.
What did Slice say about Bacarri Rambo's eye-gouging?

I think this is where your argument fails. Anytime an interception is thrown, the QBs rarely try to tackle the ball carrier. When they do its half assed, and usually not even a threat to stopping the ball carrier.
Well that's where your arguement fails. It's not about if they rarely try to tackle. It's about if they possibly could. QB's have the ability to make tackles. They may not be very good at it like kickers or punters but they have the ability.
Like I said the debate is if he's a defenseless player. Using the same thought that if it he was a tightend and it was a kick off return he's probably not. But like I said I think it should have been called, but if you have to debate back and forth regarding if Murray is defenseless then Dial should not be suspended.

.we just want you to agree the shite is dirty since NO flag was thrown
I was surprised no flag was thrown. But, I think too many damn flags are thrown for that shite. A lot of those calls are borderline at best. I don't think they should be called unless it's obvious that the hitter was trying injure the hittee. Knocking them the frick down doesn't count. Same thing with hits out of bounds - WAY too restricted. If the guy is 3 yards out of bounds and the play is over, sure. If he's tightlining the sidelines and the defender has his head up watching the guy with the ball, how the hell does he know the guy already stepped out? And how fast do you expect them to pull up? Football will be unwatchable in 20 years.

we just want you to agree the shite is dirty since NO flag was thrown. Hell I agree that Ogletree made a bad hit, which was 1/2 as bad on McCarron and we got flagged...it was the right call. We are merely seeng how low you will sink in defending this. It was a dirty and a flag should have been thrown. No suspensions needed.
The Ogletree penalty fit into a specific and established rule about what defines a "defenseless player" (which I personally think is super gay).
The difference is that we can't stretch the super gayness of THAT rule to cover a hit that would be legal in all circumatances if not for a special niche carved into the rulebook for QBs and receivers.

I bet more LSU fans respond about how Slive will gloss it over than all others fans combined.

Thanks uncle Rico.
Here's another pic. One, his head is awfully close to "leading." And two, Murray is a good bit away from the play.

Just as it is instinctual to seek out a de-cleater.

Nope. No more than I blame someone seeking out a de-cleater.

less than 10 yds away. Blockers are at the 30, and the play is ongoing.

Bama fans whined all day yesterday about hits from last year when they were trying to deflect this issue. I remember a few obnoxious posters who quoted rules all day long yesterday, attempting to defend this hit.
You guy Steve Shaw SEC Head of Officiating - a Bama grad - said it should have been called. EOS - end of story. It was a cheap shot.
