Using system endowments can be completely misleading take Texas for instance supposedly our endowment is $17.1 billion but if you look at the breakdown of just the flagship U of Texas Austin alone you will find the endowment is just $6 Billion. So I wonder on the list if since Vandy's figure is not a system it might in reality be higher than TAMU in College Station if it was seperated from the rest of the Uni's in their system.
You also have four schools in your system with enrollments over 20,000. We have ONE (flagship).

I wonder how this breaks down per graduate? Auburn is one of the smallest schools in the SEC so it makes sense we are lower. I understand we would still pale in comparison to A&M and Vandy, I'm just curious.

A&M only shares its PUF money with A&M Galveston and Prarieview A&M so no, it's probably closer to $5 billion

A private school like Vandy has the disadvantage of having a small alumni base. But the big advantage, which is seldom referenced, is the fact that State politics does not play a role in demanding the immediate expenditures of resources. Revenues can be saved because politicians are not screaming they be spent on social issues. Too bad the U.S. government is not private.

Doubt those schools share even $1B between them. That puts them on the same plane as Ole Miss

Something to which you should often refer.

Unlike A&M, Texas actually shares it's Endowment amongst it's satellite shite schools (UTSA, UTD and others, however I heard y'all screw one it's probably UTEP). Which is awesome for those shite schools and why they are better than A&M's versions. It's not like our Endowments aren't large enough where we could actually split it with out noticing to much.
However A&M's endowment is use only for what is consider Texas A&M. So (TAMU, TAMUG, Doha, now most likely that law school in FT Worth) So all the other TAMU's get left out in the cold to starve.

UT Austin gets more PUF funds than A&M College Station.
The PUF money revenue from the principal (the oil dollars) goes into the Available University Fund.
The University of Texas Investment Management Co. runs the PUF. A&M has representatives on this management company.
The UT System gets 2/3, the A&M System gets 1/3 (someone is forgetting Tarleton State, the A&M Health Science Center and the various state agencies under the A&M umbrella that get AUF funds).
UT Austin got $156 million from the AUF (PUF) in 2011-2012.
By rule, UT Austin gets 45 percent of 2/3 of the PUF's annual payout.
LINK
In FY 2011, A&M College Station got $89 million in PUF payouts.
LINK(see page 11)
This may or may not include "excellence funds" that come from the AUF, for which only Austin, College Station and Prairie View A&M are eligible.
I have no reason to believe it would make much difference in the final tally, though.

Not surprised at at all. A&M is a very wealthy institution.

Texashorn.. "I have no reason to believe it would make much difference in the final tally, though."
Nope.. we both rich like rappers, and are fine institutions of higher learning. The real question I have is how will U of H fit into the equation now that they are Tier 1....
Those cougs better stay out of our cash.

And I'd never guess that Washington U in STL blows that number away by almost 5x. Where in the hell are they getting their money from?? Chicago Alum??
