SEC Dominance

I'm in the middle of a heated debate with this Ohio state loser from work about ohio state and the big 10 VS LSU and the SEC. Can someone post a link to website or a thread that lists all the stats on why the SEC dominates. I know the obvious ones; like the last 4 BCS national champions have been from the SEC,but the smack talk is starting to get in depth and i need some more ammo.

So, how'd the Big Ten do? This past year (2009) they went 4-3. In 2008 they were 1-6. In 2007 they were 3-5. So, a cumulative record of 8-14 over the past three years. Note that Ohio State lost both the '06 and '07 Championship Games to Florida and LSU.
Over the past two bowl seasons; the SEC is a cumulative 13-5; the Big Ten 5-10. And, interestingly, the Big Ten is 3-3 vs the SEC and 2-7 versus everyone else! Not sure what to make of that stat.
SEC teams are 33-20 vs the Big Ten in bowl games 1930 - 2007.
Through 2009, the SEC leads the Big Ten with a 67-48-2 all-time record.
The SEC has a .581 winning percentage versus the Big Ten.

Well, you're not the one who will have to deal with the Buckeye fan when they beat an SEC team in a BCS game. The OP does, and faith isn't going to allow Arky to score 56 to beat OSU, which is what they will have to do.

Ok this is obviously coming from a Big X fan.
SEC fans talk about their dominance over the Big X, but it's lacking. The conferences are .500 in bowl games over the past 10 years or so, and the teams matched up are usually very close in the overall rankings.
The SEC has beaten OSU twice in the last 5 years for national titles so that has skewed the stats a lot.
I'm only talking SEC/Big X not overall of course

You can't argue SEC dominance....4 straight NCs, a chance for 5. Half of the titles since the BCS started. That's not luck, or a conspiracy, just dominance of the sport.
BUT, I think you have the matchup you sorely need this year. I think OSU wins.

The SEC dominates because they have the best players and the most players in the NFL and the most starters in the NFL.
The SEC has 8 or 9 legit programs with the resources to get it done in any given year.
UF,UGA,UT,USC,Arky,Auburn,Bama,LSU and maybe UK
All have the fan support
Money(all teams in top 25 money makers)
Recruiting dominance except for UK
The Gulf Coast States just have better athletes.

FWIW our incoming class is all 3* and a few 4* and I know that's shitty compared to 70% of SEC schools, but 5 years ago we would be lucky to have more than two 3*. I agree with you on everything else, though.

In the last 40 years, the SEC has twelve national titles and the Big 10 has two. Here is the list.
In the BCS era, only one team north of I-40 has won a national title - Ohio State's controversial win over Miami in the 2003 Fiesta Bowl.

Have to agree, Kentucky is improving and recruiting is evidence of that. It's not happening over night, but no doubt they're getting more competitive.
I really think you have 11 programs that are capable of winning 8-9 games. and 7 or 8 programs that as it stands are capable of going to a BCS bowl.

I agree UK recruiting has increased dramatically. They have better skill players right now then UF.
I don't really believe in star rankings.
UF and UT both have all these 4 and 5star skill players, but UK has more and better play makers than both of those teams.

UK has randall cobb. Derick locke is good, but he's no better than what UT has at RB.
I think between Gerald Jones, Denarious Moore, Justin Hunter, Da'Rick Rogers. It's tough to say Kentucky has better skill players than UT.

Locke's performance this year was a HUGE flop, even before he got hurt in the Auburn game.

sorry meant Texas, UT. UT has alot of great young play makers and Poole is one of the most underrated players in the SEC.
Texas and UF both dominate states with the best skill players and neither one of them have a difference maker at WR or RB.
