What happened to Texas? I thought Shaka was a good hire.

5-5

Texas Tech and Florida are my two upsets. Baylor is due for an off game and I think Florida is getting them at a good time at home after they barely escaped OU at home.

Tech plays really well in the big games, and as much as it pains me to say, I have to hand it to them: they've manufactured a very strong blue-blood type fanbase due to their recent success nationally and in the Big 12

you're probably right, but its on the road.

Ive been following a lot of Texas the last 2 years because of Ramey, its a bizarre dumpster fire.

Hoodwinked. We did too, and fell for it when he took Barnes' players to the tournament as a 6-seed his first year. Unfortunately, Texas hasn't come really close to that caliber at all.

Just another example of not being able to handle the big time.

I wouldn't go so far as to say he's Charlie Strong 2.0, because I think Shaka could still find success at a smaller program in the A10 or C-USA. Charlie, on the other hand, showed his prowess at USF shortly after Texas and solidified himself as coordinator for a while.

Agreed. Ramey is still the raw talent he was when he arrived on campus. However, he's prone to turnovers, doesn't drive to the rack well, and like all but maybe 2 or 3 players, the hustle just isn't there at times. Signs of coaching if you ask me.

His bread and butter in HS. we played a national schedule his senior year, so played plenty of talent for that to hold true at the next level.

Buddy of mine spent a fortune on tickets to the Tech game. This is the biggest basketball game ever they have had there, and prices are stupid. He had to buy in the section with no seat assignment (which I didn't think they did anymore).

That place will be lit for sure.

Good luck, I’ve been to a couple of games there and that place gets fricking mental

The arena is pretty fricking cool too. Should be a great atmosphere

Non-conference? No question.

They had some really meaningful tilts with KU, as well as OU in the Buddy Hield days while Tubby was there. And a ticket was be near impossible to find when Texas was Final Four caliber while Tech had Bob Knight.

However, that was all before Beard built the Tech program to what it is today. So you could be right...
