But without Waters or the ability to maul teams on the glass.
Last year was so weird, we were an elite offensive rebounding team but a very bad defensive rebounding team

Was wondering the same thing. Last year, the first release was in late November but it was mocked for not making much sense... Ohio State was #1 I believe...
My guess is it will be a few more weeks.
I feel like first week of December makes sense, but I could see around Christmas time

That's a realistic prediction.

Yea SEC 4th seems realistic for LSU to me. I think LSU continues to improve as they figure themselves out. It's been two years of let Tremont do whatever he wants and everyone else eats at his table.
I love LSU's athleticism 1-5 and I'll really, really like it once we get Marlon Taylor back in January. This team should be a better defensive team if they can stop post scorers. Currently LSU's offensive efficiency is elite but I don't think they'll be able to continue this type of production in the SEC. We shall see though.

Undefeated with the 2nd best strength of schedule. I'll take it

Really glad we're playing the toughest, most unrelenting OOC schedule in the SEC in year 1 of a new coach and new system.
GREAT AWESOME FANTASTIC

Any idea on the record of SEC teams vs opponents that were ranked in the Top 25 at the time they played?

Could have made a difference in those 2 2-point losses we had @ VCU and to Utah St on the neutral court.
In reality without him we have 6 guys we trust in the rotation right now, with Bishop and Hyatt still trying to come around as #7 and #8 currently.
With Taylor we have 7 guys we really like while Bishop and Hyatt could continue to develop in those 8th/9th slots.

Waters' impact was definitely felt the first games when we had no idea how to break a press (26 TO vs. VCU and 24 TO vs. Nicholls), fortunately lately we've gotten way better with turnovers, basically had to learn how to play without him again. Only had 26 total turnovers the last 3 games combined.
We are Top 50 still this year in offensive rebounding per kenpom, Williams and Days are monsters on the glass. We are just average on defensive glass though. not unlike last year, where we were actually plain bad on defensive glass but Top 10 in offensive glass. Rebounding hasn't changed as a net much at all. Even without KBW this year our block % is really close to last year, but we're also talking about pre-SEC play.

The conference seems pretty open this year, I would expect Kentucky and Florida to get better from where they kind of started and I'd put us behind Auburn too but anyone else doesn't seem to be clearly above us IMO. Tennessee and Arkansas have their weaknesses, I would kind of put us right there with them.

Tennessee has looked better than Florida through this point in the season. The potential is there for them to be better down the stretch, but I dont see it yet. Auburn and UK are the only two teams that have looked better IMO. Both Arkansas and LSU have struggled on one side of the ball. Arkansas with OffEff in the 70's and LSU's DefEff has been in the 70's. UT is borderline Top 25 in both metrics (29th OffEff and 23rd DefEff). UT also has 2 wins over Top 25 opponents on neutral courts.
Up to this point I'd have them as:
Kentucky/Auburn/Tennessee
Florida/Arkansas/LSU

Although the opponents have been bad to mediocre. I'm fairly impressed at how Musselman has been able to hide some of our weakness in size. He does a great job game planning against teams with a solid big man by fronting the post hard and sometimes providing a quick double that causes a TO. Team has also been defensive rebounding really well for the circumstances.

VOLS are better than I expected but this team will struggle mightily through some stretches with the limitations that exist on the roster.
Most important thing this season is developing Josiah, Pons, Fulky, Nkamhoua, Gaines for next season.
Try to squeak out 20-21 wins and get a 6 seed or so and see if you can’t get lucky and win a couple games in March.

I wasn't just going on what we've seen, just believe the top 3 teams in the conference will end up being UK, UF and AU in some order.
Tennessee has played very well up to this point but like Arkansas, pretty weak front court which doesnt necessarily get exposed in a lot of OOC play. Now Fulkerson looks better this season, but we'll see if he can keep it up in SEC play or not. I will say Tennessee is still ahead of Arkansas in terms of front court, but both clearly have some issues there that could roll around big time come conference play.

Fulkerson was better than Williams and starting over him as a freshman (before he broke his arm and tore his labrum and had to redshirt) and Barnes absolutely loves him but physically I don’t think he is capable of guarding elite opposing bigs. He struggled against Isaiah Stewart but they schemed around it and Santos Silva really had his way for VCU. He has some skill and athleticism but he is better off as a 2nd big on a good team.
Nkamhoua’s development will be what you need to watch. He will be an All SEC big at some point it’s just a matter of when things come together for him.

Pearl was a master at RPI scheduling, but still knows how to work his magic. There's no point in scheduling a top 30ish team if you're going to turn around and play a team in the bottom 100.
cliff ellis always had a terrible ooc schedule. It hurt his rpi and almost always led to the team not being prepared for conference play. Pearl deserves a lot of credit. Also a tip of the cap to tranghese.

Mizzou got picked 13th in the preseason poll and I almost posted that I would eat my hat if they ended up that bad.
welp.
welp.
