NGL, I'm surprised Auburn was as high as they were.

That was still Lebo. He wasn't great but he wasn't the absolute suckage that Barbee was.

2010 was a season in which Trent Johnson thought it would be a good idea to not have a center on the roster. LSU had no talent.

LSU's 2009 season is the perfect representation of what the SEC was back then : 13-3 in the SEC with no bad out of conference losses (and granted, only 1 decent win)..................#8 seed.

13-3 in the SEC and no terrible OOC losses got an 8 seed!

Yep, another amazing part of that. LSU played 16 games against SEC opponents, none of which were ranked in the Top 25 when they played.

Shitty seeding stuck them with UNC (eventual national champion) in the second round.

Another note. The SEC only got three teams in the tournament (LSU, Tenner and MS State). LSU was the only one who made it to the second round.

Grant's 2nd team had a similar situation where we had an up and down OOC with some horrid losses, went into SEC play and were really really good by the end of the year but had almost no opportunities to gain ground because the West was so damn bad and we all played 2x.

#73 Ole Miss
#90 Arkansas
#103 Miss St
#190 LSU
#233 Auburn

It's nearly impossible to be #233 in KenPom/Torvik and play in a power league.

Let's hear it for NIL and the Magic Portal. The only place where half the SEC teams have become more talented, with better coaching, than most of the historic bluebloods.

Go talk to the Auburn fans that defend Gus and 8-5.

Take a look at some of the tournament droughts in the conference over the years. I know it was tougher to get in the tournament back in the day, but damn.

Auburn had a 10 year drought from '88 - '98 and a 14-year drought from -'03 - '17!

We only made 1 tournament between 2006 and 2018 even though we were on the bubble probably 80% of those seasons.

I think LSU went about three decades without making the tourney before Dale Brown built the program back up.

We've only had something like 3 "bad" seasons since 1972 when CM got things rolling.

But man did we perfect 18-14 with an RPI of 61 (after sitting at 16-9 on Feb 1).
