And two chunk plays for 111 yards. Look, I’m not saying we stopped y’all in your tracks by any means. But to say it was a curb stomping is a bit extreme. Either way, it’ll be improved this year so we’ll see.

I hear you but this is always the case. Nobody runs up 450 yards 10 at a time.

That ranking is based on us getting worse on the DL, when in fact we’ll be far far better.

Best front 7 we’ve had in a long time. It called Chaisson an interior lineman and he’s an outside linebacker. Clearly they did no research.

I can’t wait to frick people up this year.

Not disputing the talent on D, pointing out they can only hold up for so long, they are going to be worn the frick out pretty early by the O and a dearth of TOP.

I love when people try to take big plays out of the equation. It's like saying, "If you took out all of the positive yardage plays then our defense stuffed the offense."

The problem with this entire list is....wait for it....worse in some cases will still be better than some that are better. In other words....this means nothing....or little of nothing !!!!!!!

Yet, LSU finished with a better Rush D than State in the SEC LAST year and LSU added front 7 depth.

WHen State played LSU last year. We were missing half our starters on Dline and a patchwork Oline.

State is going to have a good D, but the only game States D dominated last year was LSU.

You guys gave up over 200 Rushing to Bama, AU, and UGA. Louisville had 187 on you guys. That is not elite.

Defensively, with LSU's shite O, we had better games vs the same teams as State.

That is definitely possible.

At least we have really good depth this year on defense.

But yeah, fricking Orgeron could very well ruin our defense by having some garbage pass happy, turnover prone offense that can't control a clock to save its arse.

Makes me furious to think about.

WTF does any of that have to do with the topic being discussed? This is not a rushing yards discussion nor a MSU vs LSU 2017 comparison

My 2018 prediction is you disappear even earlier this season than you did last, it is becoming a right of fall passage and quite humorous to watch.

I was thinking more of the run game getting stuffed due to no one respecting the pass, we MSU fans know all about how that happens.

Unfortunately for LSU the SEC schedule is brutal this year, MSU has one of its every few years good teams and you catch the East Dogs who are stacked this year.

AU, UA, GA, MSU and FL are going to present some very big challenges if there is no credible passing threat to keep 9 out of the box and the D will suffer as a result if this happens.

We will know soon enough

And when you peel away the games vs Sun Belt and 1AA team and only compare stats vs P5 opponents they were middle of the SEC in defense. The stats have been posted 100 times.

127 teams played at least one game against P5 opponents. Here are the final rankings of SEC teams in that list.

#3 - Alabama
#10 - Georgia
#16 - LSU
#18 - Auburn
#20 - MSU
#35 - Florida
#45 - South Carolina
#60 - Missouri
#74 - Vanderbilt
#77 - Texas A&M
#81 - Kentucky
#87 - Tennessee
#92 - Arkansas
#94 - Ole Miss

Auburn and Alabama should have better defenses than Georgia this year....at least at the beginning of the year. We lost too many good, experienced players. We have some players as talented coming in, but they need experience. Hopefully by the end of the year, our defense will be very, very good, though.

Nobody is shaming you for playing the games. We are pointing out that when you just look at teams performances vs other P5 teams MSUs defensive numbers drop dramatically.

Maybe you misunderstood the rankings. Those are based on stats in P5 games only. We played 9 P5 games and gave up an average of 350 ypg in those games. We played the 2 NC game finalists, the SEC West champ, and the #3 offensive team in the nation.

Bama was #3 in that list, but the two teams ahead of Bama only played one P5 game, so their ranking is off of that one game. Bama was #1 and MSU was #12 for P5 teams against P5 team competition.
