I think most college ADs are sleazebags. They're all politicians at their cores

Definitely don’t think he’s some great AD. He just throws huge contracts out.

Anybody here could do the same thing.

Selling boosters to pony up tens of millions of dollars isn't something anyone could do. It's not as simple as just writing big checks. You have to grease a lot of wheels to get things done, especially at a public University. That's where Woodward's past experience as a lobbyist and running a PR firm for fortune 500 companies helps him as an AD. If it was just writing big checks, LSU wouldn't have ended up with Ed Orgeron and you wouldn't see programs like Texas hiring Charlie Strong and Steve Sarkisian...or Tennessee hiring any of the coaches they have since they fired Fulmer.

ADs are mostly politicians

If hair does not move in the wind, does not belly laugh, or is as transparent as Mississippi River...trust judiciously!

However, he is building LSU Athletics with a long-view of sustained success. He is our politician. Therefore, I hypocritically give him a pass.

You think ADs can just pick a number when it comes to writing checks? Seems like an easy job, if so.

The fact of the matter is, Jimbo and Kelly were the best possible hires at the time. Napier may go on to win 5 NC's but he's far more of a risk than a proven winner from another major P5 program.

Those hires don't just happen. Which is why Texas ended up with Sark, LSU ended up with Orgeron under Alleva, and Arkansas hired Chad Morris after Beilema.

He hired a top 3 women's basketball coach, a very successful baseball coach, and a football coach with a top 5 resumé in CFB, what more do you want?

Meh.Every big school AD gets big time boosters to pony up funds. Its like selling
cigarettes to inmates.

I'm still very curious as to who exactly is cutting the checks and for how much.

LSU athletics lost $80 million due
to Covid they keep spending money like they're printing it.

Highest paid WBB coach
Highest paid baseball coach
2nd highest aid FB coach.

This on top of owing coach O & company $30 million.

You might have some generous donors but I doubt they're more "generous" than A&M,Bama,UT,UGA or
UF boosters.

Let's also not forget you have the
Highest annual debt service (as a percentage of revenue) in the SEC.

I'd love to see those books.

Fantastic retort.

Show me where Woodward is better at soliciting donors than AD's at big time CFB programs.

Hell,Phil Knight just ponied up another $100 million to Oregon athletics. You think their AD was responsible for that?

BTW,I'd still like to knows who these big time donors are and how much they're giving.

So let me get this straight, any AD can get their boosters to spends tons of money. LSU is spending more than everyone else but has poorer boosters than a bunch of other SEC schools. The other SEC schools are simply just choosing to spend less?

Any AD could get them to match LSU's spending if they wanted to though?
