quote:

Woodward, in his third year at A&M, sat down in his office last week for an extended visit with the Houston Chronicle, and touched on a handful of topics near and dear to Aggies. For starters, what would happen should the popular AD "hear mama callin'" as a Baton Rouge, La., native and LSU graduate.

"I have no intention and no desire to go anywhere else," Woodward said of the idea he'd leave for LSU should the Tigers have an opening at athletic director. "People forget that I've been gone (nearly) 15 years now. I love it here. I love the people, the university and the commitment to education. Until they don't want me, I want to be here."
wow. It's so nice to have a competent AD who doesn't want to go anywhere

These questions are always so dumb. What's he gonna say, "Yeah I have a good gig here but if LSU calls at any point in the future, ima bounce"

Lets take that song and apply it to this situation

You realize that song is about how Mama (LSU) tried to save their son (Woodward) from making awful decisions that ended up with the son being in a tormented hell of prison (A&M) because he didnt listen to Mama right?

I think you might want to just call this week a fail already

1. I don't believe a damn thing any AD, coach, etc says about wanted to stay anywhere.

2. LSU's situation is clearly not stable and a much harder job at this point. I have 0% worry or him ever wanting to leave A&M for LSU.

Woodward is playing 8D parcheesi. First he gives a 5-6 coach a huge guaranteed contract, Billy Kennedy is up next. Then he’s coming home

I like Scott

He is an alumnus of both of my schools (Catholic and LSU)

I just dont exactly know we he has done well yet.

He simply offered a shite ton of guaranteed money to a coach. So naturally the coach said yes. It seems the boosters should get the credit for Jimbo. It isnt exactly like Woodward played a good contract game.

He just signed the check

He was Washington’s AD before ours. He’s the one that finally got Petersen to leave Boise.

Im not sure whats funny?

I dont think the AD deserves too much credit for "luring away" a coach when paying 75 million guaranteed

Don't put much weight into anything someone says when asked about another position with another school/company. What's he going to say? "Yeah, I'm just waiting until that half-wit Alleva gets canned so I can go home." That would be in poor form.

Just like Saban saying over and over again, "I will not be the next coach at Alabama." At the end of the day, money talks, and bullshite walks. If Woodward is compelled by the prospect of running the show at his alma mater, LSU's AD has enough money to make that happen.

Our major disadvantage would be F. King. Politicians would fall in line with a competent AD who would call the shots instead of cowering to every elected Joe Boudreaux with an opinion and no ties to the school.
