It's not really a safety thing either. How many deaths have occurred at SEC games in your memory?

There was no way they were stopping us that night. They didn't have the numbers to stop us. From the video I saw the security guards were going to stop people but they saw the student section was already on the field so they let everybody else go which IMO is what they should do.

Edit: also we didn't rush the field against UGA in 13

what happens if there is a 1986 Aub vs. UGA thing happening. Would we get fined?

I'd be throwing that invoice in the trash if I were the AU AD

you could feel a tornado level breeze from the collective exhales from everyone in the stadium though.

It has been SLIGHTLY increased to a mere $50,000 per incident in 2015. All since last year.

I don't mind the rule, but how can these numbers make sense? Why not $10,000 or, at most, $12,000.

Rushing the field for something like what Auburn did against UGA and Bama in 2013 is inevitable. If you were there, you would have rushed the field too.

And, it will happen again given the competitiveness of this league.

But raising a $5,000 fine to $50,000...for a FIRST TIME OFFENSE, just because of the "ideas" thrown out at a yearly meeting by some already VERY rich commissioners, is a ludicrous penalty in my opinion.

and all SEC schools just got 10 million dollars MORE next year from the SEC network. I think they can afford it

Man talk about an all time way to frick over a rival, it's bad enough you beat them, and even worse you rush their field, then the capper is they have to pay the SEC thousands of dollars for punishment

Ha...exactly. One final swift kick in the nuts.

Please. I was on row 3 in that endzone. If they even tried to stop the first few, no one else would have tried. Fans weren't running out there. They first few were slowly inching past the guards, waiting to see what their reaction would be. When the guards just stood there and watched the fans go past, more and more people started going by.

50,000 will probably be too small of a penalty to keep people from doing it. So honestly it should be higher if you really want to keep people from rushing the field

the people rushing the field aren't pying that money. so unless they call the national guard or equip police with riot gear and rubber bullets, no amount of fine will keep fans from doing it.

I could see the fear in their eyes. I could read their thoughts just by looking at their faces.

"I'm being paid $7.25 an hour for this sh*t?....NOPE!"

Those two Saturdays at Jordan-Hare were magical.

Kentucky paid $50k as a repeat offender for rushing the field after beating UT in 2011.

Kentucky only paid $25k for rushing the field after beating SCAR in 2014 because it was more than 3 years between "offenses."

If Kentucky beats basically anyone with a pulse in CWS this year, there's going to be another fine because that field is getting rushed. Teams include UT (probably), UF (definitely), Auburn (definitely), Missouri (probably) and Louisville (definitely).

Rushing the field is awesome.

Good job by the guards of understanding the situation and not being rigid automatons.

I probably went crazier at the end of that game than the end of the Iron Bowl. It was crazy being at both the games especially with them happening just two weeks from each other.

I was pretty much right in front of Louis when he caught it and right behind Davis when he caught it.

Or, you could understand there are situations rush-worthy.

Student section was out there pretty quick. And from every video I've seen of the end zone you're talking about, no one rushed the field until the student section was already out there.

they'd have to hire dozens of more cops for the off chance there might be an upset and fans might rush the field, an event that doesn't occur very often at any school. honestly, $50k for a fine is probably less than it would cost to hire a staff for all big games to prevent the small possibility of a fine ever occurring. regardless, 40-50 cops aren't going to do much to stop 10-20k people from overpowering them. i don't care how much they care about their job. which is exactly what the cops hired are probably thinking. ("what's the point")
