The answer he should have given the other day is so easy:
"I understand you have to ask the question. I can tell you that I have not been offered the head job at Texas or any other school. If you want to know has there been negotiations, I wouldn't know; my agent handles any incoming requests and doesn't inform me until an offer has been made. That's part of the business of college sports today: coaches entertain offers to move; players entertain offers to move. But as fat as your question goes, I have not been offered."
He gets offered the next day, takes it, and other than A&M fans, everyone else doesn't care. But he turned it into a national story.

And even if he rattled that off the cuff, Aggies would take it to mean he's gone anyway.

He’s been actively recruiting against A&M since May. Not hard to believe at all - maybe he did hate Trev. At least he’s back with his swinger buddy in Austin where they can go get loaded together on a weekly basis

I'm not sure I buy that.
For the burner phone story to be accurate, he's got to recruit for tu while at A&M, sell "integrity" to players and families, and they all have to keep it quiet for 90+ days in the era of social media.
That's a hard sell.

Agreed, there are always fans who come up with wild theories during these situations.
