I'll never believe that there wasn't some shady shite going on in Austin as well. Perhaps not even close to the level of some programs but it was there.
I could tell you a story but this isn't the place. CFB has always been a dirty business.

Of course there was. But not flagrantly enough to match up and compete.

but you'd think that after 2 full years of working with him, he could have seen this coming. It doesn't do much for his reputation as a "QB guru". Especially after seeing the lack of development with Quinn.
Now that is a solid take. I also didn’t expect Ty to lay the egg he did in tally… but that wasn’t all him. He only had help from about 1/3 of the offense. I can say that against ULM and Whisky the performance has been night and day… from Ty, his receivers, and the defense. It is cause for at least optimism that the staff can use the talent effectively.
Who knows… maybe the light comes on for Arch and by the end of the year the early struggles are forgotten?? As a football fan I hope so. As a Bama fan? frick y’all.. swim in misery!!

Post-shaggy bevo Texas fans have become soft.
there has always been a soft group that attacked anyone who criticized the coaches. Back then they mostly stayed on the hornfans.com circle jerk. They are evidently looking for a new home now

This is not a "light" coming on. Arch cannot throw a football.

Fair enough

the problem is, there's plenty of video evidence that he has a good arm. Something happened.
Starting to think Sark gets in their head and just fricking scrambles it and they forget how to just go out and play football. It's puzzling.

So as a child growing up in NE Texas, there was a fellow named Billy Sims from Hooks.
I can remember as a kid the stories of what he was being offered from the different schools in Texas, but that none of them would compete with what Oklahoma (Barry Switzer) had on the table. That can't be the only case.

Well, I think we have evidence he can throw it a mile. I think where it goes is the problem.

I didn't follow the Billy Simms recruitment but I have read the stories. Dickerson is the one that showed me just how dirty this sport was back then. Of course, back then, it was just SMU doing SMU things.

well, for whatever reason, it's clear the answer is "no where near anyone who can catch it."

I heard it straight from a lineman that played at Texas 1875-1979. “Hell yes we got paid, but you have to remember, after they paid Earl Campbell there wasn’t a lot of money for big ole linemen.” Saint Royal was as dirty as anyone, he quit when he had to start playing by the rules.

Lamborghinis (did Sark pay for these?)
It is an endorsement deal. The players have to give the cars back when a contract expires.

Hornfans is still around? Isn't that the Longhorn Bob site? I got banned from there in the 90s

Longhorn bob...wow blast from the past. Hadn't thought of that guy in ages. That bus trip to the conference championship game fiasco is one of the great events of longhorn message board lore. I don't know how tied he was to horn fans but I'm pretty sure he had a separate site. Probably after being banned from hornfans like half the fan base. I don't know the story there but I remember Longhorn Bob Wheeler. Boy do I ever.
did some digging. It does appear he was, at least, part owner in hornfans then sold out to the tyrant katie. I also could be wrong on which game the bus trip fiasco took place but it did happen. May have even been some legal trouble there.
Then he just....vanished

Pretty sure he was a site founder with Katie Agnor (sp?) There was a parting that wasn't amicable.

I think that bitch butted heads with half the fan base. The "no sex at all" forum on shaggybevo was a tribute to her.
