I don't truly know if we have always paid players or not.. that's above my pay grade.. But you guys talk out of both sides of your mouth.. so which is it?

Mack Brown had the state of Texas recruited and committed by Labor Day. Talent in Austin is not an NIL thing.

True from about 2000 to 2010. After that, Texas has not recruited the talent needed to win a title until recently. We probably gamed recruiting rankings by overloading on skill position players but we never had the talent in the trenches.

Given the quality of players we have been grateful to recruit over the past few years, I can certainly understand why people would believe we spent 40 million on them. But the reality is we don't spend near that much and we have many other things to offer in addition to NIL money to attract talented players.

Damn. You should be his adviser. That's the perfect answer. Good job.

A decade of Mack Brown hauling in 4 and 5 stars while competing in 2 national championship games says enough about the shorthorns to say it was never about NIL to get them to dress in Burnt Orange. It was your trip in the wilderness with multiple coaches that discouraged recruiting, not money. So, if it has never been about NIL until NIL, what is the point that a Texas fan would like to make?

Terrible hires at head coach along with the point that tbrand made. We were loading up on skill position stars and neglecting the trenches.
Hiring charlie strong did more damage than anything else. Herman wasn't much of an improvement.
I hate NIL and the portal but if everyone else is doing it why shouldn't we?

They'd be better if they had a better head coach. Sark has cost them multiple games in the playoffs with his in game coaching decisions.

That we're going to buy a championship with players

This is why people hate you. Always telling us what you're going to do with your money and not backing it up ONE SINGLE TIME.

It's fricking pathetic.

Well I really like LSU. They were my backup safety school. I celebrate every time they win a title.

I don’t believe Texas or OU joined the SEC to spend the increased revenue on 18-21 year olds. I live in Texas. Have friends both Aggies and Horns. Texas fans and program are Great additions to SEC family. Quit being jealous and coveting what others have. I don’t believe for a minute Texas spent $40 million. Could they? You bet and more

Texas and OU will become top tier SEC competitors. I welcome the competition.

Mack Brown is not coaching at Texas right now. Develop a new thesis.

Uh yeah… key words “Mack Brown”.

But right now, Charlie Strong could be kicking your arse at Texas. Opportunity smiled on 7-win Sark.

That happened long before Mack, they always had next year’s recruiting done well ahead of time.

That's my point. The shorthorns are getting the players they want, as always, they just happen to cost a hell of a lot more once the bidding stops.
