Her connection to College of the Ozarks (now called University of the Ozarks) was that they are a Presbyterian college and most of the Waltons were/are longtime Presbyterians.

So Helen got on the Board of Directors of College of the Ozarks back in 1975 and began giving them gobs of money since then until she died.
