He was my favorite assistant coach ever not named Erk Russell. Huge loss for Georgia.

If you think he can’t coach players up, look up his track record for putting players in the pros. If you think he can’t recruit, google “Clay Webb.” Still can’t believe he pulled that off.

Seems as if some of y’all prefer the corporate Butch Jones-style used car salesman press conferences over guys who are actually legit and have substance.

Pittman’s the man. Tough loss for Georgia.

Sam ain’t gonna have a lot of time to be coaching up the OL

Seems to completely negate what he’s actually good at giving him the head role

You could say that about any good OC or DC you hire too though

I really think they looked at the Ed O model and said let's try that might work again.

Yeah, I'm sure no head coach has ever had time to work closely with a position group that he is familiar with.

Eh, why would you think that? Plenty of coaches that come from an OC/DC background are still successful in that area because they can spend enough time coaching it or making sure the right guys are in position under them.

If Pittman spends the entire practice working on technique with the OL he will be a colossal failure as the HC.

Not to say he’ll never work with the OL, but being a position coach that’s pretty much all he’s doing. His time spent with them on the practice field is going to be SIGNIFICANTLY lower. This is just how it goes

He was great while he was at Arkansas also. You can trace Bert's entire nose dive to him leaving for Georgia. We had an unbelievable line at Arkansas in just 2 years his first go around and that was following petrino who didn't recruit OL well and John L who didn't recruit

Pittman is the man. He is the best OL recruiter. He was the most important man on our staff behind kirby.

That said, pittman is overrated as a line coach. UGA destroyed his OL when he was at Arkansas.

UGA is great at pass blocking the past 2 seasons. Not so great at run blocking. Pittman is prepping guys for the NFL. But if you are a running offense, it won't be "the best" results. I know that is nitpicking. But he is held in too high of a regard as it comes to run blocking. If I had to guess, the OLs arent mobile enough.
