Was hoping it would be tennessee and not our permanent east rival.
I shudder to think of what a revitalized Mullen is going to do with Florida talent..
frick me.

Looks like he was a handful for LSU already.

That happens when you play the two worst teams in the worst division of the power 5

Mullen is gonna get rolled at Florida and won't be there three years. Mississippi State isn't the Mississippi State of old, the frickers have some damn nice facilities and have just as much money as probably half the SEC. I don't think Dan did as good as he should have the past 5 or 6 years and it's about to show what a choke job he really is.

CDM will not have a chance to do well at Florida. They do not have the patience to wait for success. Fan base wants microwave results when a crockpot is what should be expected.
His offensive system is very complicated and it will take 3-5 years for the Gators to reach the level that they wanted yesterday.
He will be gone before realizing that success.
3-4 years and they will get rid of him when they are just in the cusp of greatness.
Remember you read it here first.

This guy is smart. Ol' Danny boy better learn how to win big games or games when a team has a little more talent than his. Everyone makes fun of his record against ranked teams. There is a reason for that, and it sure as hell wasn't Mississippi State Jackie won his fair share against ranked teams..

3-5 years?
Took 2 last time he was here.
You know...winning a national title?
Comment makes no sense, and is pretty stupid to be honest.
We know his system works at Florida. It won two titles for Pete's sake.

Mullen didn't accomplish as much as Sherrill. I think he is great and would have accomplished more had he stayed.
But unless Florida has the talent to win a championship right now, he will be on the hot seat in two years.
Given a few more years he can win big there though.

Didn't Jackie Sherrill cheat his arse off, or was that somewhere else?

Actually yes
He walked in at State with a loaded cup board. 2009 team should have won 8-9 games but he was new and struggled.
2010 was loaded with NFL talent and won 9 games.
2011-2013 was up and down, some good and some not so good. In fact , 2013 he was on shaky ground at State.
Had been at Florida, he would have been fired mid season.
State had the patience to ride out the low times and then that created the success from 2014-17 w/16 being a bump in the road.
He will already be long gone from Florida before that happens to him. They have the patience of a gnat.

Dan's 2011-13 teams were the result of AWOL recruiting lapses after his initial season. He simply did not recruit certain positions of need, when it was obvious foresight. That was my first red flag with Mullen. We were short on receivers and DT's for a while.

We had very few seasons where we were not short on receivers. Billy Gonzales is awful.

I remember when we had virtually zero depth on the DL.

God knows the eastern division of this conference is a complete shite show. Hopefully Merlins can restore some self respect to that half of the conference instead of forcing the western division to do the heavy lifting year in and year out.
