As others have said, Tuscaloosa much like Baton Rouge, Auburn, Starkville, etc. are not even close to being as amazing of a city as Austin is, especially as far as quality of life. It's an actual real city not entirely based around the university, and has beautiful landscape. It also is a very diverse and progressive city.
Furthermore, between the talent pool of Texas, the money available there, the fact there is no state income tax in Texas and a 5% one in Bama can make a difference.
Also, Texas while diehards are not as ridiculous as Bama fans or LSU fans for that matter.
For those saying UT should get a younger guy to be there 20 years, why on Earth do they need that? If Saban can build up UT like he did Bama in a short time, they'll be set. Look at LSU after Saban left. They hired a mediocre coach from the Big XII and he's won 80% of his games and done as well as Mack did in his time at Texas.
UT has infinite more resources than LSU, and so I see no reason for this to be negative for either party.

He didn't address it - or no one had the balls to ask him, I guess. I'm sure he's tired of addressing rumors, regardless.

We had a mutual fund wholesaler come in the week before that news came out a while back(he's based in Birmingham ) and said he got wind from some very senior brokers that were pretty well in the know in terms of the REC and said Texas was willing to pay off a property investment Saban got into and to which he's around 8 million in the hole
This sounds legit and not at all like complete nonsense.

Les Miles was the first coach from Oklahoma State to win in Norman...ever.
He was also the first coach from Oklahoma State to beat R.C. Slocum and A&M.
He was also the first coach from Oklahoma State to beat Oklahoma in back to back seasons.

So are you saying Saban is Tupac Shakur and Texas is Suge Knight?

Saban goes from his house to the office and then back unless he has recruits in or has a speech to deliver. It would be wasted on him.

For the record, I don't think Saban to Texas is farfetched at all. It's the one job that's big enough and different enough to be interesting and intriguing. I have to admit as an Alabama fan that there really isn't much left for Saban to prove at Alabama anymore. He's set financially if he stays or goes but why not be loved and adored at yet another school.
On the other hand, I think there are a couple of things against a move to Texas.
1) Believe it or not, he and Terry do seem very comfortable in Tuscaloosa. For all the crap flung at it, the nicer areas of Tuscaloosa are quite lovely with two or three VERY nice neighborhoods. He's on Lake Tuscaloosa that is actually a nice lake with nice houses and scenery around it. He's at least as comfortable in Tuscaloosa as any of his other stops. Granted, Austin is bigger and better overall but there's nothing wrong with the area they are in if you like low key lake front living in an incredibly nice house and neighborhood (Crown Ridge). His work environment is obviously great. A new challenge and change of scenery would be the only real reason to leave.
2) The more I think about it I think he'll take one last shot at the perfect situation with an NFL team. A deal where he gets paid big bucks and gets a piece of ownership at a NFL franchise in the Midwest or Northeast. He coaches a couple more years at Alabama and then takes the NFL gig, coaches until his 70th birthday and retires. JMHO.

During a press conference a couple of weeks ago, Saban was
asked about the business dealings of Paul Bryant Jr.
Saban made no comment.

Since he lives in Alabama, that's not surprising.

That was my point. A&M is the diehard fanbase in Texas and that is the whole reason. Saban would have less BS to deal with there than at Bama and LSU.

Good for Les. The point was like he has done at LSU and at Bama, he's set up a program that the next coach, if not a complete moron has the potential to ride Saban's success to more success. That was in response to a comment stating why would they hire Saban for only 5-7 years?
Want to know why? Name the last coach to win an NC that was at that school longer than 8 years since 2000? Outside of Saban, only 1 has won past their 6th year at the school.
Stoops - 2nd year
Coker - 1st year
Tressel - 2nd year
Saban - 4th year
Carroll - 5th year
Brown - 8th year
Meyer - 2nd year
Miles - 3rd year
Meyer - 4th year
Saban - 3rd year
Chizik - 2nd year
Saban - 5th year
Saban - 6th year

Yes. Yes, we could. Somehow I don't see Miss Terry as the party cove type though.

I know I'd be disappointed but not as butthurt as LSU fans. He's won 3 NCs and has us in the running for a 4th this year.
bullshite. If he left Bama and two years later was at Auburn or Tennessee, the butthurt would be significant.

Wrong. I have lived in TX long enough to know better. Maybe they are no worse than Bama or LSU, but they are still pretty shatty fans.
