That Nashville reporter will have to get in the back of a long line of Bama fans to kiss Nick's arse.

Actually agree with Saban on this one, if the reporter would have done a little homework he would have known Saban actually recruited White to LSU as an athlete and White did commit to LSU for some time until West Va gave him that opportunity at QB. The previous coaching staff at Bama probably recruited him as an athlete as well.

If I recall correctly West Virginia was about the only place who offered him a shot to play QB.

An Alabama site disputing the specific allegation involving Pat White doesn't equal Alabama fans in general being in denial about our rules bending and rules breaking. A great indicator of how a fanbase views their program is how they react to allegations involving a current player. Alabama fans and almost all SEC fanbases immediately assume their school is guilty to some degree when specific allegations are made against them. They usually hope it's not bad and that it can't be proven. The overwhelming attitude even if not publically voiced is one of concern about what rule was broken. With many Auburn fans it seems to be the opposite. Instead of concern and a sense that there is probably some truth to the allegation, many Auburn fans react with indignation that anyone would dare accuse them of anything. The mere thought that someone would think they are capable of a rules violation is offensive to them. After all, Auburn is a righteous school and has the Auburn Creed and they don't have to cheat like those heathens at Bama, LSU, Georgia, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Florida, and other SEC schools. No other SEC fanbase is even close to the Auburn fanbase in this regard. The Auburn fans on this board are cool about and get it, but in general your fanbase circles the wagons like no other when accused of NCAA violations

I haven't read this whole thread, but I don't remember Bama being a player in his recruitment at all.

And it's a pretty shitty move on his part to throw this out there.

People were pissed that Shula never recruited him.

He was committed to LSU for a long time. I'd have to consider us the favorite of any SEC school recruiting him. We had Jimbo, and I think Dameyune Craig (as a GA), on staff at the time and were pulling Mobile kids pretty regularly.

The draw to play QB was obviously strong.

All the "he wasn't at Bama at the time" responses are irrelevant. No one was accusing him of doing anything.
But, He is THE spokesman for Bama football right now. If something controversial surfaces as a result of perceived or actual misconduct (past or present) regarding Bama football, he is the one who has to deal with it. That's coaching 101.

Whether he wants to field questions like that, it's his job. He needs to quit pouting and deal with it.

I am sure this has been brought up but my first reaction to the video is that the reporter was completely wrong with the allegation in question. The reporter said/asked him to comment on " an accusation today that he received a corvette to sing with Alabama" ..... which is completely different than what PW actually claimed in his tweet. White claimed he was offered a corvette if he would sign with Bama, which he never did, sign nor received a corvette. So the reporter asked a question that was misleading, not truthful nor relevant to Saban as he wasn't the coach at the time. Don't blame Saban for his reaction.

Why would he be asked, he knows no more about the kids recruitment at Bama than the checkout guy at the hardware store.

They have a whole department for this, these type of things should be directed at them and they can say 'no comment' so we can all move on, taking a stupid pot shot at a booster meeting tour is just stupid.

wow 16 pages. Some Auburn fans have a really unhealthy obsession with all things Bama. TigerNMIami is a perfect example.

My thoughts...
- Why would Saban have to comment on something that may or may not have happened when he was not apart of the program. He said "kiss my arse" in a non-press conference setting. My god, the horror.
- NOTE FOR FORMER PLAYERS: you are better off accusing coaches/boosters of cheating rather than a whole University. That would gain more traction. You cant honestly say "The University of Alabama offered me a Corvette." Pat White was probably paid by some Auburn fan to put that on his facebook. Why do I think that? Because Auburn fans have actually done that.... Dirty SOBs.
- Do we have some boosters that are very passionate about our team/school, with more than enough means to give some $ away. Absolutely. Your school has these fans as well.
- Reminder: players are eligible for Pell Grants. I personally know a few that got cars this way.-
- I was at Alabama during the Shula years. KNew some pretty notable players pretty closely(Roman Harper/Shaud Williams). Both drove beaters. Dont believe me? no problem, i could care less.
- Yes I do believe Cam got paid. Becasue he was quoted by the Miss State agent or coach sying "The money is too good." Do I really care? no.
