I've heard from one person that knows him that he doesn't actually do much anymore and that he's more of a figurehead.
While, granted, age gets the best of us all eventually and we all slow down Saban is such a perfectionist and control freak that would never happen.

Saban would bail before becoming a figurehead.

On the flip side, Saban actually does enjoy the politics and 'relations' side of it. He likes speaking to peers and the like (he doesn't consider media anything close to a peer). Most coaches hate it, and/or suck at it. So while such things would give the appearance of a figurehead, I think that's as far from the truth as can be.

And that's not even figuring in his comparison to Johnny Majors, his legacy, his ego, and comparison's to his contemporaries... which are all very important to him also.

My wife use to model with Gisele.
Gisele told my wife that Coach BB is retiring this year and Saban is taking his place.

Who me? I just want what is best for Nick. He is the greatest football coach of all time but he has that asterisk from Miami. I want him to prove it by taking the Browns to Super Bowl glory. Then the asterisk will be gone and he is undoubtedly the greatest ever. This is magnanimous. Nothing more nothing less.
