Are we going to act like Saban called ESPN and asked for that segment and not the other way around? What was he supposed to say?
No thanks, I’ll pass? I’d rather not play in the CFP this year and I don’t think my team would be competitive? There’s nothing to see here. Bama wasn’t in before, after, or any other time relative to that interview.

Oh Lord child, Coach Saban did the exact same thing in 2017 (Bama got in) and in 2011 (Bama got in).

you just know that the committee, either subconsciously or not, told themselves that they could not give off the impression that Saban talked his way into the playoffs
100% disagree. The committe knew alabama wasn't getting in, and their decision has literally nothing to do with nick saban. Bama was never, at any point after their LSU loss, making the playoffs.

No one outside of this board gives a shite about it. Saban always lobbies for his team. There's nothing wrong with him doing that.
Alabama was never getting in with 2 losses and no conference championship with the way it played out. His lobbying had absolutely nothing to do with it either way.
What everyone thought was inappropriate is that he was the ONLY coach allowed time to lobby for his team.

So Saban should have declined unless they agreed to give other teams time?

Your coach would have done the same thing !!!

I think that if TCU had have dropped their last two games it certainly could've, and probably would have happened. Who could they have moved ahead of Alabama?
But I agree that going into last weekend's games there was no way Bama was getting in.

Terrible idea by the Alabama brain trust.
How so? I mean that's what a coach is supposed to do. Also, answer me this. Georgia loses to #2 ranked Alabama last year in the SECCG and fell to #4. #3 TCU loses to #12 KSU and remains at #3. Does that not seem a little strange to you?

All of you who thinks it was perfectly acceptable for Saban to lobby for his team: are you the same guys that was saying how inappropriate for the Big Ten commissioner to be lobbying for Ohio State? Just checking…

number of spots any given year (or even week for that matter) can't really be compared, because what everyone else did that year/week is always going to be different.
2021 - there were two teams with identical records that actually won their conference. Georgia fell behind them, but stayed in front of all of the 2 loss teams.
2022 - there is only 1 team with the same record (number of losses). That team didn't win their division, so TCU stayed ahead of them rather than penalize them for playing an extra game. Just like Georgia in 2021, they stayed ahead of all of the 2 loss teams.

Exactly. Can't believe how rent free Saban and BAMA live in some people's heads. Only thing comparable is TDS.

Its funny you say this because he has done this a few times and its worked almost every time. But by all means, go off.
