FWIW though, Saban is correct in his statement in the OP. Georgia doesn't deserve to be left out of a BCS bowl game as East Div Champion, simply because they played an extra game. They'll still have as many wins as any other BCS bowl team.

On a scale from 1-10, how hypocritical would you find his recent statement? I have to admit that I always thought being a hypocrite was binary. I never considered a continuum.

I tend to think in grey. Had the BCS bowl berths not mentioned conference champions, I probably would think he was more of a hypocrite.

Most things are a continuum. I don't really understand what the point is of winning a division if you don't get any benefit from it except going to a SECCG.
LSU lost the National Championship game last year and they were still voted #2. Oklahoma State was ranked #3. Can see how someone thinks the SEC should be viewed the same.
All of that said, since he's picking and choosing rules, I'd put it at about a 5, knowing full well that if he were in Florida's place, he'd use the other rule to lobby for his spot in the Sugar.
