I think I would listen to Saban, a multi-millionaire and one of the best college football coaches in the country. He hasn't done too damn bad for himself, IMO.

i'm not a fan of the preseason games either. the only reason im interested is b/c its the first football that has been on for the past 7 months and i want to see how new acquisitions fit in, but that only lasts for the first quarter or two and then everyone gets pulled out. there is no need for 4 preseason games. colleges dont get meaningless games to get all of the kinks out and each of their regular season games means a lot more than NFL reg season games.

it's not just to "get the kinks out"
They need those games to evaluate their roster and see who they're going to cut out of the guys on the bubble.

right but they have all of the OTAs and practices, so do they need 4 games for that process. they might not want to rush the decisions but there would probably truly be no more than 2 or 3 backup position battles remaining after the second preseason game.

The NFLPA will have no choice but to submit to the Rookie cap.....no way they can justify paying these kids the money they do...especially at the QB position where alot of those 1st rounders with the mega contracts have flamed out and are being outplayed by veterens and QB's drafted lower than them. Leaf..Russell...Alex Smith....Couch and not lets mention the 2002 draft with David Carr and Joey Harrington going 1st and 3rd...ouch!

Saban is right for doing so, even if there is a portion of him that is doing it for his selfish reasons. His job is to win at Alabama and if it takes him telling border line guys to be cautious during this time of unrest, then so be it.
I also applaud Goodell for what he said last night before the Packers game. He said something along the lines of reducing rookie contracts dramatically and give more money to veterans and the retired players.

I get your point but it's simply not true. Teams want to use every second they can to get as much tape they can to make an informed decision.

The un-named agent has a pretty valid point also.....the rookie salary cap will be in place for 2012...book it! So you will see alot of kids getting while the getting is good
