He’s almost 68. No elite coach has ever not started to see a drop off by his early 70’s.

It will be interesting to see how long Alabama fans let him hang on after he’s lost a step. History says that day is coming sooner rather than later.

Yea but I still think Saban is cut from a different cloth. That and the fact that 70 is what 60 was a few decades back. In my opinion, we still have 7-10 seasons with Saban at the helm and I expect to be a top 5-8 team and competing for a title in every one of them. Call my optimism whatever you want, but that’s my genuine belief.

A few months back I thought Saban would be retiring within a few seasons, but several comments that have been made by Saban recently have led me to believe otherwise.

I admire the old guys for the energy and stamina to work as hard as they work. Saban/Les Miles/Mack Brown/Butch Davis/Kirk Ferentes and many more are still plugging away in their old age.

Is it though?

I guess weirder things have happened, but I don’t know if there’s much of a precedent for such a thing.

Corndog dickriding Clemson yet again to cover their own inadequate record against the GOAT.

It’s like some script you guys follow.

Seems like the old coaches demand & get more consistent effort out of today's player no matter the competition.

Bryant had a similar fear didn't he?

Coach Bryant was not a well man his last year. Lifetime of smoking and drinking will do that

I wish I could believe that. I really think he will either die coaching or be on his deathbed wishing he had one more day to coach. He really is that miserable.

No one cares about bama this year and y’all are becoming desperate for attention now. It’s pretty funny

So Sabans thinking about retirement?
He sees other schools rising up and getting recruits he would normally have gotten (Clemson and UGA). That's slowly going to take a toll on his above normal talent he needs to win. He will leave before he becomes a laughing stock for staying past his time like many. Who knows how long that will be but it won't be as long as Bama fans fantasize.

A bad loss reinvigorates Saban.

He will walk away before Bama fans tire of him. The Bryant comparison is a good one. Everyone knows he went 8-4 that last season but they forget they had won 4 of the last 5 SEC titles and were only 2 years removed from back to back natties. Nobody was calling for Bear’s head because Bama had a down year.

The story goes that he walked in one day, said he couldn’t coach them up anymore, and that was that. Saban will do the same thing. The day he feels like he isn’t capable of meeting the standards he sets for himself he’ll hang it up be it 2019 or 2029.

I'm not dick riding anyone. I'm just pointing out that you claimed you were stacked, but Clemson had something to say about it.

And so Clemson is just unbeatable, huh? No team not even Alabama will ever be on their level?

44-16. I disagree.

There it is again... celebration of LSUs greatest victory last year, the one that resulted in LSU winning third place in the SECw division...AGAIN... for the fifth year in a row.

Oh how proud the LUSers are about this win... and I expect them to give 29 upvotes and 0 downvoted.
