Termination is of itself a punishment. If the courts say the sec cannot punish LSU for this then you’re looking at a billion dollar lawsuit.

That will not hold up on appeal. 0% chance.

Then they tried to change the rules. That’s the problem.

Other conferences made similar rules as the SEC but yet I haven’t heard of a single team going through all these legal wranglings in order to get these players like LSU has.

Key points: this is a 1 time thing because the NCAA dropped the ball.

This does not address what I said at all. Re-read it.

Word is the other 15 schools have started discussing whether LSU has become a fundamental enough problem that the conference should consider terminating its membership rather than continuing to fight over eligibility rules.

We will obviously know more after tomorrow. Someone asked a few pages back for a flow chart. I may work one up tomorrow to try and break this all down visually.

Hearing the same. This is not in the hands of the ADs but the presidents and chancellors. That's who makes the decisions. They are the voting members.

SEC members on the LSU schedule will not play LSU this year and will now have an 11 game schedule. The game won't count on the records and LSU will be booted out of the academic consortium.

There is a lot more at stake here than people realize and it behooves the conference to draw a hard line. I mean, that's just the way it is.

Then you will just bitch about our easy arse Big 12 schedule and how we’re lock for the playoffs every year.

College sports and morals don’t belong in the same conversation. Let’s be real.

Setting a precedent? That’s all anyone has been doing since NIL started and all these court hearings started. Stop fricking acting like it’s just us.

I'm not here to name drop, ok? Again, let's try to act like adults. This thread is about discussing the very real ramifications of Lane Kiffin's actions.

This guy thought Trump was running the government in exile and would retake office in 2022 thanks to the military. He still trusts Sessions.

If they cant enforce "a" rule they probably cant enforce any rules so its kind of a precedent thing as I see it.

The NCAA lost its ability to enforce rules and is now irrelevant (and likely going to be replaced at some point).

If the conferences don't enforce their rules they will go the same way because in the end they're middle men soaking up money between the schools and TV broadcasters. If they aren't enforcing rules they have no purpose.
