You keep saying that we have insecurities but it is you that started this thread about us and you that can't stay out of any thread about Bama. The Bama fans that constantly come here and gloat or talk down to the rest of aren't insecure. They may be a douche but not insecure. Also, considering LSU fans are the Kings of shite talking, imagine what this place would be if it were you guys that were on this decade long run. It took hiring Orgeron and losing to Troy to calm you guys down.

Unrelated, he just accidentally found time to celebrate his birthday last year with the bye, and he hated it. Won't happen again.

Well actually it might be Nick being a bit more sneaky then most suspect.

End of the usual rough season for SEC football. You have a rare opportunity to take the week off and then play a team you own for the second week. Its like having two weeks off.

Take a break. Get a big lead. Rest your starters. Maybe even play the FCS gimme the next week. So three weeks off in a row.

The reason Saban was upset with so many open dates that teams had before playing Bama can be read below.

2010 season from Wikipedia:

“Alabama played six of its SEC opponents the week following the opponents' bye week. These SEC teams who scheduled a bye week before facing the Crimson Tide included South Carolina, Ole Miss, Tennessee, LSU, Mississippi State and Auburn. Georgia State also had a bye week prior to playing Alabama, for a total of seven consecutive opponents playing Alabama the week following their bye.”

I do believe LSU will once again, very soon, maybe even under O, be a persistent threat to win the SEC West. They have way too much talent, pride, and support not to do so.

That said, your comment is delusional.

The current streak and decade of winning is on par with what UA did to LSU in the 90s. Although, the direction of the programs over the last period is likely closer to the feeling of the 70s.

LSU, at the height of its SEC and national powers in the 2000s, owned the series 7-3 but only managed a ~3 pt margin of victory over a mess of a UA program from coaching changes to probation. It was an all time low for UA football outside of the 1950s (coincidentally, Lsu's only other winning decade vs. UA in a decade with more than 1 game played).

LSU has a ~70% record of losing vs Bama.

Surprisingly, the average score all time series is a TD+ in UA's favor, at:
Alabama 19.4 - LSU 12.1.

Per decade:
W L T PF(UA)PG PA(UA)PG
2010's 7 2 0 21.2 11.8
2000's 3 7 0 20.5 23.9
1990's 8 2 0 20.4 12.8
1980's 5 4 1 20.4 14.9
1970's 9 1 0 21.8 8.9
1960's 5 1 0 17.8 8.2
1950's 2 3 1 8.3 13.5
1940's 2 2 1 24.2 20.6
1930's 1 0 0 33.0 0.0
1920's 6 0 2 23.0 1.6
1910's 1 0 0 23.0 0.0
1900's 3 2 0 8.2 5.4
1890's 0 1 0 6.0 12.0

So, yes. All things are cyclical, or at least see the emergence of patterns, if given enough time to observe. And, most assuredly, UA will falter and live to repeat the 50's and or 2000s again... possibly sooner rather than later. But, the "cycle" or pattern that seems to be re-emerging is UA over LSU.

Again, I realize the arrogance that must be coming through in my text, but it is not intended. It is simply to push back on a comment that is short sighted, false, and meant to marginalize one of the greatest runs in CFB history. UA has passed the decade of LSU dominance and left it far behind by all measures.

All your other boys seem to think an open date before LSU game doesn’t matter.

Ask Wikileaks if nick is still crying about the no huddle offense.

L7U is an automatic win. Cupcake. May even start scheduling them for homecoming. Going to use their bye week on a more challenging opponent. Possibly Alabama A&M.

Hasn't LSU been an annual bye week for Bama for the better part of the last decade?
sure has. Saban had it moved when he realized that LSU had the best chance of beating him. That bye week isn't moving neither while he's there. Sabans smart unlike his fans.

This season LSU has three SEC opponents in a row that have a bye prior to playing LSU. State, Bama and Arkansas. That’s a rough run with an already tough schedule.

There needs to be a week off between the final regular season games and the conference championships to allow the players some time to recover.

Wikileaks deferred to the Russians who deferred to Rohan Gravy.

The only football coach that I recall crying was Earle Bruce.

the end of Oct has generally been a bye week or fluff game since expansion.

Wasnt it the MSU and LSU games that flipped in the 2000s when Saban was at LSU to create a bye before the Bama game?

Game moved back to first week of Nov under Saban at Bama and the bye week/fluff game after the UT game remained.

Everyone, certainly Bama coaches and players and most fans, knows that LSU was Bama's greatest threat by far from 08-15. Even now they are still a threat, but nothing like that period. The only Bama fans who say otherwise are just smack talking. One of the irksome things about this board is that some in each fanbase refuse to engage in honest dialog, dragging down most threads. Of course there are a few crazies who may actually believe the garbage they spew (e.g., Rabern, aufbfan, et al.). Even the better posters are very careful about giving credit to someone else. If they do, they almost sound like a kiss-up compared to all of the "macho" men who won't give an inch :-).

There are other factors, but the primary one at the time was that LSU was the big threat and they too were taking a bye. Really, there's not a clear-cut West threat now - AU seems like they might take the mantle, but one win in 4 years? But LSU has taken a major step back. Not in terms of W/L, but in terms of posing a viable threat. UGA looks like a legitimate SEC threat - even after only one year. We'll see.
